This looks fun & something a bit different for kids, from the makers of Coraline.

What a curious name for a film...

There was a free preview for this in the Netherlands (of all places!) which is how I first heard about it - I really want to see the film, it looks fun!

We saw a trailer at the multimedia screening of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, it's out in the UK on 14 September so hopefully they'll be something in the next few weeks. :cross:

Ah yeah you're right! I'd forgotten about that :D

I don't think they will be a free preview for it, but hopefully a multimedia screening :cross:

ParaNorman is fantastically brilliant. From the makers of Coraline I believe, but better. With a message like The Lorax, but better. Funny and touching and different. Not cute but you don't need cute in every animated movie. In fact, leave the kids at home. It's not scary for an adult but I could understand if a few younger kids get a bit spooked - and not sure the tolerance/no bullying/no eye for an eye message won't go over their heads. The animation is second to none. Wonderfully ugly people, clever story.

Great breakfast at Odeon West End too. Got a green screen photo but was somehow not aware I was supposed to look scared - so I grin inanely while all the other characters scream, LOL.

9.5/10

was a fun movie in the some style as coraline but not as dark.

aimed more at kiddies so i didn't enjoy it as much.

still, great for the kids and there was a nice applause at the end.

the screen was good but the seats were awful tbh. hard to stay seated for long.

so glad it was only 90mins

magician was good though!

I was also lucky enough to attend this mornings multiamedia screening too, we were there early so quickly had a green screen photo & some breakfast before it got too busy, though we discovered that most people had not realised there was a second buffet or face painters downstairs.

As Beate say's another film with an underlying message, this time bullying, but not in your face and clever & funny, none of the characters, not even Norman where completely innocent! Bullying : Survival of the Thickest! This isn't a film for younger children, there was the odd whisper of I'm scared from a few little ones around us, but my 2 (8 & 9) thought it was fantastic, especially my daughter who say's it is her new favourite and can't wait for the DVD (means she'll watch over and over for weeks!)

I was in 2 minds whether to drag myself out on a Sunday morning, but am really glad I did. There was a fantastic breakfast to begin with even the fact that I'd just b*ght a coffee and breakfast didn't stop me from indulging  :shifty:

The Odeon West End is a little gem tucked away down at the bottom of Leicester Square (isn't this the one that was/is going to be knocked down for another hotel? Anyway it was clean, well maintained and best of all, the Air Con wasn't blasting away o/ it was nice and cool but no need to bring a blanket with you LOL

the film was great. for once I didn't mind the 3D, the colours still seemed bright enough (for a dark film) The animation and characterisations were were brilliant, funny and spot on. For me the, end scenes dragged on a bit but that is a minor point.

9/10, lovely morning, lots of FMUK'ers attending, and thanks to Tsoiboy for coming along on my ticket and being such good company.

PS The Despicable me trailer had me in tears, how on earth will I be able to wait a year to see it? 10/10
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks
