Could it have been a play on BBC or ITV perhaps?

Was it My Sisters Keeper?
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"

A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

that sounds close to me.

however, it wasn´t when i explained the plot to my mother that she became convinced that she had seen it, only when she saw the first few seconds of the trailer.

it seems to ¨look¨ very much like some other film.

as i said, the short hair seemed to her to be the clincher.

again, to reiterate / clarify, I don´t think this as been on tv, but given that this is line 6-ish of post, some will not read this.

:)

Currently sitting in the Director Q&A and feeling motivated to write this. I found it to be a very touching piece and can honestly say that pretty much everyone was bawling their eyes out by the end. At times very moving but very much your typical British indie film. Some great lines from the little brother too! Worth the watch but have the tissues ready! Overall I'd say 7.5/10

Saw this tonight at Cineworld Haymarket. Got tickets at short notice and thought what the heck. I had seen a trailer of this earlier and basically it is a story of a young girl and her family coming to terms with cancer. Not my usual film I would go and see.

This is essentially a British Indie film dealing with a very delicate subject. The film was handled sensitively without becoming over sentimental with a few but appropriate light touches of comic relief. The opening titles were fun. The leads with Dakota Fanning and Jeremy Irvine were believable, compelling and interesting to watch. The supporting cast of Paddy Considine and Olivia Williams were good too. Dakota Fanning's accent was really good and I forgot she was American during the film.

The film made Brighton town an integral part to the story too. Also I am sure some scenes with shot in Surrey Quays Shopping centre.

These films that deal with cancer either have a happy or not so happy ending. The ending for this film was totally appropriate with a dream like ethereal quality and ending on a positive note.

The Q&A with Ol Parker the director was good, informative and quite candid about the movie business. Though towards the end there was quite an inappropriate blatant plug from an actor looking for a future role.

During the Q&A the director just wanted to see how many of the audience would cry during the screening. That was how he measured success for the film.

There was not a dry eye in the cinema... I had some dust in my eye. To that end he was successful. I am not sure of the appeal of this film but it is a great little film.

This is definitely not a Friday night film and is an intelligent sensitive film. I am glad I saw it and the Q&A was good too.

Well tonight at the Haymarket Cineworld, they did not even bother to ask you for your tickets before sending you up to Screen 1. The SFF lady (I recognised her from Beate's description), not the same woman I encountered on Sunday, even apologised for making us wait to go in as they had to clean up before letting us in. She was in a good mood. :P SFF ticketholders were segregated to the upper tiers, which was fine by me.

Lovely, lovely film. Loved it. Well acted by all the cast. Gosh, Jeremy Irvine is all grown up and so gorgeous! A weepy too but not soppy. Brighton looks good too.

Q&A with director Ol Parker was very informative and interesting. Apparently Dakota Fanning stalked him for the role. And he had cast Jeremy Irvine a year earlier before he got 3 inches taller and got even more good looking! 8/10

Lovely to see hdaniel and mandmc10.

Saw this in an almost full Braehead. Nice to actually not have to wait for a film to finish and that the screen was ready by 18:00.

This is a British indie film and Dakota Fanning was fantastic as Tessa. OH was in tears by the end and I think those tears started when the father started. Not too sickly sweet and brilliantly supported by everyone in the cast.

Has anyone read the book "Before I die" by Jenny Downham? 7/10

Not sure what to make of this. It wasn't quite the weep-fest that I was expecting. Perhaps this was due to the outcome being known from the very start. Perhaps it was because it just appeared to stop and the inevitable outcome was just implied.
I have just seen the trailer on TV and it calls this an ultimate feelgood movie! I must completely disagree. I came away with the feeling that something bad was going to happen. It took a while for me to realiose that this was totally due to the movie and not me! It is pretty depressing tbh.
Having said that. Great acting all round - totally believable characters.

There was a fair bit of sniffling in Edinburgh tonight, but not the torrent of tears like flood water pouring down the aisles that I was expecting. I needn't have worn my wellies after all! Indeed there seems to be a fair bit of hilarity coming from the back row - where biggins and marjareen like to reside. Haha.

One or two continuity fails - like the headrests in Dad's car that disappeared and reappered several times in the space of one journey (preumably removed to facilitate filming of rear seat passengers?) and pictures on the girl's bedroom wall that were torn down and burned reappearing again on the wall later on in the film.

I enjoyed it despite Paddy Considine's Irish accent creeping through from time to time.

Gonna start the ball rolling with a healthy 7.5/10.

Again another good TV drama rather than cinema experience.
