Well done everyone....you are an inspiration!

None of us are on Diets ;) we are all on new healthy regimes! o/ I have never been to zumba classes but I hear they are great fun. Maybe join one some day to see how I like it. I am well passed the boogie all night age so have to do something else in its place!!! :p

Had a bowl of fruit and fibre with blueberries this morning. Going out for a pub lunch with hubby (another Groupon voucher! ) so will have a snack later tonight so hopefully will not be too many carbs today.
Welcome back havingascreen and enjoy your Zumba class Bettyboop.
Biggins I'm sure that you are not passed the boogie all night stage ;)

Thanks for being so lovely as usual ejwrank o/ I was annoyed with myself as I would have had the time to do it.

Welcome back HAS and BB! BB, that's the best attitude to have I think. Agree with others that if you're denied something you can't help but crave it!!!

Diane, I think skipping exercise now and again is not a bad thing - got to be part of your maintenance plan that there will be times like that. Mind you, all that walking, DIYing etc, I doubt one missed session will make any difference!

Incidentally, I think perhaps a jacket potato might work as doesn't need too much chewing? Or maybe mash with something? A vegetable stew of somekind might work as the veggies will be super soft and you can squish them with your tongue...? Either that, or chocolate can melt on the tongue (KIDDING, sort of)...

Keep up the amazingness, people!

Good idea Anakin I've just b*ght a Weight Watchers sausage and mash for dinner tonight and I need to exercise 4/5 times a week not 6 days now, maintenance is more difficult than losing weight. Chocolate melting in my mouth does sound like heaven.

Menu of the day:
Smoothie with a banana and strawberries (300 calories as a large banana)
Garlic sausage sandwich with rocket and tomato followed by a weight watchers yoghurt (300 calories)
Weight watchers sausage and mash with veg plus a weight watchers fromage frais (550 calories)
2 oatcakes before bed.

I will do my DVD tonight.

Hope you all enjoyed your classes and walks yesterday and good luck with the weigh in Preston1990 o/

Good Morning everyone o/

I hope that you are all feeling well and ready for another week of healthy eating and sensible exercise. Apologies for being a trifle lax with my own postings recently but I've had other stuff going on which robbed me of the time I used to spend on the thread. Whatever!! I'm back now and ready to roll once again.

All you regulars will know that I'd put 5 pounds on after my Italian hols and I was pretty hacked off with myself for letting that happen. I put it down to being seduced by all the fab Italian food and finishing up not only my own but also my kids meals as well. They are great at ordering loads of stuff but not so good at finishing it off. I know that shows me in quite a mean and unattractive light doesn't it, but I know that I can be honest with you folk. :shifty: For similar reasons I avoid "all you can eat" buffets these days too. :D

Fortunately I'd managed to shed 4 of those 5 pounds over the course of the next 5 days so I was quite pleased and relieved with that.

....And......Some good news today for me too - I've just been weighed this morning and have lost another 3 pounds during this week so I feel pretty much back on track with my regime.

In my last post I described how I was going to do that reduced calorie intake thing that was shown on Horizon a few weeks ago. Basically you reduced your calorie intake to 600 calories for two days ("fasting") and then did the next five days of normal calorie eating plus the ones you'd missed out on over the two fasting days. I thought it would be a breeze - believe me it wasn't. I didn't even complete the first "fasting" day. It made me so hungry and focussed on food intake. Because of that I think I ended up eating far more on that day than I normally would have done. I've knocked the whole fasting thing on the head now - and have decided that MrG was spot on when he said something along the lines of "Why change something that is working well for you?"

Here's an irritating thing.........My freezer has completely given up the ghost now (the motor of which was run beyond endurance by having its door left partially open for several days a few weeks ago) and I've lost another £150 of food again. This takes the total of lost food to around £350 and obviously I need to b*y a new freezer now as well. But of course things are never that simple are they. Nine years ago we b*ght a large upright freezer and a matching fridge that we stood next to each other and built cupboards around. Looked great if I say so myself, but of course they don't make that model anymore so a replacement even though it could be a similar size will be a mismatch which will irritate me so we will probably need to b*y a new fridge now as well. Inadvertently leaving that door open will have cost us around £1k to £1.5k :wall: 8O

I've been doing more cycling recently - I try to do at least 1 ride a week now usualy anywhere between 30 to 50 miles. It's great fun and you get a good workout with it. I could highly recommend it to anyone looking for low impact exercise and of course you don't need to p*y gym fees. Second hand bikes are plentiful and you needn't spend a fortune b*ying a state of the art one either. In many ways, the cheaper the bike is the better the workout it gives o/  I have a few bikes now and have never spent more than £80 on one, I even got one free off Gumtree, although you can spend thousands of pounds on them if you have the desire. :D

Todays Meals:

The lack of a freezer at the moment is forcing me to shop more regularly - but that allows me to b*y more bargains.

1) 2 Weetabix with semi-skimmed milk and handful of green grapes.

2) Stir fried vegetables with chorizo and rice.

3) Caribbean jerk squash with beans and coconut.

4) Earl Grey Tea with slice of lemon. Toast and pâté.

Don't you go beating yourself up Diane for missing one planned exercise session otherwise we'll start to think you have become too obsessional about the whole weightloss thing. Just relax - you are doing great! :D

I'm agreeing with the advice that I've seen going out to ClareBarr too. Do a little bit of gentle swimming and focus more on eating loads of healthy food. Eat plenty of vegetables, fruit, water and cook from fresh ingredients - avoid processed foods. o/

Well done Preston you are doing brilliant o/ I have lost another lb on my so called maintenance  I do want to lose a few inches ie replace my fat around my hips with muscle but don't want to lose weight as my ribs are starting to become noticable below my collar bone (only slightly but I don't like that look), I have curves but that is my shape. I know that some people look good at a size 10 but I'm better as a 12.

Sorry to hear about your freezer 1.5K is a heck of a lot of money :( Your meals sound lovely and you have inspired me with the recipes.

Well done Preston and Diane. o/ I am just back - been swimming in the outdoor pool but the rain came on and I don't like the rain making my head wet or the coldness on my back so came in. Been to the supermarket and got some raspberries for a change to go with my cereal tomorrow. Chicken and cauliflower with a cheese sauce and two small potatoes for tonight. Having a salad and a yoghurt in a moment or two. Friday's looming and I hope I have not gained this week. :cross:

Hiya guys, so sorry for my absence! Well please expect that from me. Sometimes I need a break from forum reading/posting because when I get started, I cant stop and of course I do get less productive in personal work as a result though. Havent read the backlog posts yet but I see Preston's one as usual standing out ;) I see the ticker tapes have progressed nicely on Preston and Diane's signatures, awesome stuff. Preston, glad you will continue the journey method that has worked for you so far ;) When you get closer to the goalpost you'll change somethings around but all in good time :) Oh and what a good observation about the cheap bikes, you're absolutely right, they do indeed give a better workout! Though I remembered when I had a cheap bike during my student days, it had no bloody gear change and when it came to a hill, I had to get off and carry it up! I couldnt believe when I chained it up one day and came back to find it gone. The idiot who stole it doesnt realise he unburdened me and now has the burden to get rid of the junk. But I didnt think of the fitness element of it back then, so yes, low gear bikes are great to strengthen those quads, hamstrings and calf muscles, good point that.

Diane, well done again so far. What's this business I'm hearing about beating yourself up on missing an exercise session...no need to knock yourself harshly, its just the one session, girl! BUT I do very much love that you are setting yourself a realistic high standard and yes you do indeed want to keep up with that target. Just remember to enjoy the challenge, not fret over mis-steps :) Glad you keeping your goals always in sight.

If anyone is not feeling much progress with their fat loss journey, dont forget that all it means is you need to change up your exercise routines so your body is challenged with something new...that leads to the body burning more fat fuel to cope with the new type of stresses.

And also, dont neglect resistance (weights) training on your muscles. Let state some points why muscle training is important to add in your cardio routines

1: resistance training not only burns calories during the workout but it gives you the strength to effectively burn more fat fuel during your cardio exercises too.

2: Building a little more muscle (and girls I am not talking about bulking out, it will you give a more beautiful definition, toning I guess is the term you would be more familiar with), reduces many injury risks because stronger muscles, tendons and ligaments can withstand more stress in every day activities and your cardio work outs. It can also reduce bone deterioration and help prevent bone related diseases such as osteoporosis. I do also hear, although I cannot say for certain if its scientifically proven, that resistant work also reduces risk of high blood pressure. But I tell you all something that I do know from my own personal experience. I was always a sportsman enthusiast, albeit an often fat one in the past but I always suffered an injury such as hamstrings and calf problems, back aches etc. Since transforming my lifestyle to include regular weight training, I (touch wood) have not had such injuries again apart from a Achilles tendon injury which I incurred by wearing the wrong type of running shoes that did not match my running style (very important to wear the correct type of footwear btw, Ms Thrifty we all know has recently suffered from such a thing with her walking boots).

One other thing that lowers injury risks is improving your flexibility with stretches, pilates, yoga etc. Actually I really need to do some more of that myself, my felxibility is quite poor actually, I need to work more on that.

Oh Samsung has now finished the sponsorship, so my sponsored runs totalled up to £65 being donated to 2 childrens charity. In the end over £500k (pound per mile ran) was raised by participating runners. I hope there will more schemes like that in future. It certainly was a great incentive for me to run/walk as much as possible. Its also keeping me nicely in check for what I hope will be a successful entry into the London Virgin marathon (I'll know if I get the luck of the draw in October).

Well I hope everyone is feeling groovy, conscience of eating healthy and exercising at every opportune moment, taking the stairs instead of the lift, getting away from the monitor every hour and getting up to grab a cup of cool refreshing water from the office water tank dispenser, keeping up with the swimming (thumbs up to Biggins and Clarebarr!), the gym (Valda, rawxoxr, Jojo how's that going?) and the varying paced brisk walks to work/home/cinema :)

Oh Havingascreen, glad to see you back!! :)
