Re: Weight Watchers
Wah, my diet has gone out of the window and down the road a bit... I had a stinking cold over the weekend and being home alone I literally felt like I was going to die. Then last night I found out one of my house mates is dropping out and will be moving out, tomorrow. She is obliged by contract to find someone to take her room so it really shouldn't be stressing me out but it is. I'm 26 years old but all I want to do is go home and cry in my mum's arms. What a big baby!
I don't think I'll be able to undo the damage of the last few days before my next weigh in but I will get back into the swing of things tomorrow and hopefully it will even out by next week.
I would post all the awful things I ate but I don't want to tempt anyone!

Re: Weight Watchers
Hope you have a better day today ClareBarr. When you are in pain it blots out everything else and you are unable to enjoy anything.
We had friends round last night for drinks and I laid on crisps, nuts and sandwiches. Needless to say when I started to eat the crisps and nuts I forgot to stop!!
Could kick myself after they had gone but the damage will be done now.
Going for a walk this morning to see if I can redeem myself!!

Can you not just count it as a treat day and then you don't have to go through the punishing yourself regime? For some reason if we have a planned treat day we can enjoy it but when its unplanned but still just one day a week treat we feel guilty
As I have got a cushy day today - I'm only working 11am until 4 (worked 1 and a half hours late last night and making up the other hour tomorrow) I got up full of energy so had my first attempt at a Ripcords exercise programme.
I did them all with the yellow Ripcords (very light weight ones) as I have never used them so figured that I would be less likely to injure myself if I don't get the technique correct:
I did my warm up using my Tracy Anderson mat workout DVD and then
Upper Body Workout (Standing position workout routine)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KjPueieLyE&feature=plcp
The yellow band was perfect for the shoulders but I could increase the tension by taking a wider stance on the cords
Lower Body Workout (a bit more advanced and longer)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEweWTW74xc&feature=plcp
I quite enjoyed this one but I will use the Orange Ripcord in future as its using the bigger muscles of the thighs.
Inner and Outer Thighs workout
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3X8AgzqGxs&feature=plcp
The Yellow one was fine for this and it did make my legs shake a little towards the end but it is working the muscles that I really need to tone. You don't need a step as she suggests as it stays in place with your hips.
And to complete the fun, put your resistance bands away, grab a mat and ejoy a 15 minute abs workout :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YI0cxuN ... ure=relmfu copied this wrong as its the ab one
This was good and obviously designed to get your womanly curves, I can now do a plank which I'm delighted with I'm not sure if its because my fitness levels have increased or that there is less of me to lift up
As for the side planks that's a different story - I can only hold for a few seconds in the advanced bit but can do the intermediate so that can be something to work on.
Menu of the day:
Cornflakes, all bran and strawberries with a black coffee (350 calories)
2 egg cheese omelette with a rocket and tomato salad with balsamic vinegar (400 calories) Shapers chocolate mousse (100 calories)
Tonight I'm going to http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j& ... oTes9jDn5w so will be having food there unsure what there will be but I assume healthy stuff being a Liz Earle event
Where are Preston1990, havingascreen and Valda? Hope that you are all keeping well

Re: Weight Watchers
I'm here Diane
. I've been like omgholly, laid up with a stinker of a cold, eating lots of comfort food and i actually went as far as phoning my mum and getting her to come round and look after me and i'm 41!! You'll be fine after it passes and fitter than ever. Everyone needs their mum so never feel bad about that
I've not got any healthy food in so will venture out to the shops and stock up.
Thanks for looking out for me Diane, you are a lovely woman

Re: Weight Watchers
Oh no poor you and comfort food certainly does have its place. That is so sweet of your mother to come around and look after you. You girls need to take it easy until your bodies recover and that includes you Clarebarrhavingascreen wrote:I'm here Diane. Re: Weight Watchers
Gosh, so many people having colds or feeling sick right now, I too dont feel quite tops myself and I noticed my asthma seems to be surfacing lately, so taking it easy this week too. Might still do a jog to the cinema tonight, I;ll see how I feel.
Hoping for a quick recovery for you Clarebarr, omgholly and HAS. Rest, watch movies, have bubble baths to ease those aches. And dont worry about the knocks, you cant expect NOT to have them now didya? That's what makes these journeys fun interesting
Its about the getting up (imagine me saying that with a Stallone slur)!
Diane, wow awesome, I didnt mean for you to do ALL of them in one go! But good on ya, that you did. Really proud of you. How long was that workout altogether? As you doing all of them in one go, keep up with those exercises at least 3-4 times a week for the next 5 weeks. For those workouts to be the most effective, you want to be pushing your intensity to the point that you really feel the work upon finishing a set, so well done with judging which bands you need to get that max workout intensity. Notice also Nicole gives alternative easier intensity modifications of the same exercise. This is important, as you want to do the harder/normal method but its possible you cant keep up with it for the whole set without losing your proper form and technique. But YOU HAVE TO finish the set ! :) And that's where the modification comes in, you adapt straightaway to the easier modification of the same exercise and complete the rest of the reps. This enables you to keep up with Nicole and the same number of reps. You follow?
So for example, lets take press ups. Say I want you do 10 press ups. So you start doing them pushing your whole body up and down, keeping your core aligned and only your toes and hands making contact with the floor but you find you cant hold your form at around the 7th rep, so you then drop your knees to the ground and continue the press ups just pushing your upper body weight and so complete your 10 reps set at your maximum intensity. After a few more sessions you will be able to do the whole set with the advanced method without dropping to your knees. Once you can do that easily, you modify the exercise to make it harder by raising one leg off the floor. That's the kind of progression you want to aim for with every type of exercise over the next 6 weeks :)
One other thing, because you have been doing those workouts in a row, you should be doing all of the stretches at the end, not at the end of each video. Remember, each video is assuming you have ended your workout, so dont stretch in the middle of your workouts because your body will cool down, and you dont want to be starting another workout when the muscles have cooled. SO leave all stretches for the very end.

Re: Weight Watchers
Felt so tired just walking round the shops
Going to make some homemade tomato soup with lots of garlic and fresh basil, that'll kick start my immune system hopefully
Take it easy Glassy, I'd recommend burning some eucalyptus oil in a burner to kill off any germs in the air, it'll do your airwaves wonders too.
Hows everyone else feeling?
