The last film I watched was Rachel Getting Married on dvd. The film follows a woman called Kym who has been in and out of rehab and then during a few days she is reunited with her family for her sisters wedding. I have to say the film was amazing! I was impressed with Anne Hathaway's performance it's the best I've ever seen her act. It's shot in a documentary style that really works as it makes the movie so intimate. Its a character driven film and the family is realistically portrayed by the amazing cast and the fantastic script definitely helps. Although its an emotional drama there were lots of comic witty one liners!
Anyone who hasn't seen should watch it!
I highly recommend it!
9/10

Last film I saw was Enemy of the State (Will Smith, Gene Hackman) last night in bed - didn't fall asleep so must've been good. I know it's not new but it's the first time I've seen it & really enjoyed it. Even the OH liked it (well - watched it all the way through without falling asleep or moaning "This is a lot of sh*te!" Image and it's not his sort of film!
Reminded me a lot of The Net with Sandra Bullock.

"Under The Sand" on DVD, which is from 2000, but which I didn't see on release. It was either that or "The Yards", and the latter seemed a bit heavy for a summer Sunday afternoon.

I watched Seven Pounds last night and totally agree with Lucky Charm- strange film, very disjointed but well acted.

Have to say though, in his last few films Will Smith is getting so serious and always looks totally miserable. Think he needs another action or comedy film to come out....

In pursuit of happiness- depressing, I am Legend- very very serious and even Hancock was pretty serious !!!

overall would give Seven Pounds a 7/10 as ending was good if not sharp(jellyfish bit was a bit different as well)

Junebug - 8/10

Junebug is all about its characters - its thin plot just enough to stretch across the 107 minutes. Basically a newlywed couple visit the husband's family. That's about it. But the characters are great, disappointed with themselves and the others and constantly putting on a façade. Amy Adams is fantastic, seemingly giddy all the time. The conclusion is satisfying, and a range of interesting, quirky visuals prevent this from being a generic indie film. I picked it up brand new in Poundland and it was certainly worth it!

Lust, Caution - 9/10

This is just a fantastic film. Nothing more need be said. Another great bargain, only £3 :) (I forgot who pointed out the deal, but thank you!)

AYBG - love Junebug. Amy Adams really makes this work.

And I'm the "Lust, Caution" fan... and it is still only £3 in Sainsbury's, which is amazingly cheap. It is so brilliant, that I will have to watch it again....

Watchmen: Director's Cut

Just fantastic. Fixes most of the original cut's problems and some of the best bits of the film are new. I'd recommend it to anyone, even if you didn't like the film in the cinemas...
Of course, it's not coming out here, but if you see piracy in this case for what it is (ethically justified   ) go ahead and download it. Or wait til December, when :cross: the Ultimate Cut (DC with Gerard Butler-starring animation Tales of the Black Freighter interspliced) will be released outside America...

Best films of the year:
1. Watchmen: DC
2. The Wrestler
3. Watchmen :D

Yeah he is, with what one website described as an 'authentic porn moustache' As film choices go this film was definitely bizarre, seeming mainly to focus on various manifestations of mental illness, with Joseph Fiennes's character seeming to have more than his fair share of strangeness.

I watched Surveillance on dvd last night and sadly it was pretty lame. Seems sharing your daddys surname (Jennifer Lynch a la David) does not mean sharing the talent. Still, it keeps Bill Pullman off benefits. Which is always a good thing :D
