Not Receiving Email Alerts

AYBG has looked at it countless times already.

I know but its just frustrating. Lost alerts a few times before and they come back after a few hours or at the most a day or so. I remain subscribed to forums and will keep posting across the boards as normal. Do have access to a 2nd id as well which is still sending alerts through !

I agree, in the past it has seemed to sort itself out, however this time it seems persistent; in mine and SteveDan's case at least. Also, I recently experienced the 'disappearance' of my original login id (which had been ok since joining in 2009) so have had to re-register again as it said I didn't exist!

Lets's not confuse your issues here. If you lost your original login which you had since joining in 2009, that means you had managed a grand total of 1 post since then and for this reason were deleted. So your contribution since 2009 was one post and now moaning about not getting email notifications. I am impressed.

Beate, replies like this don't exactly encourage participation do they? I was just flagging-up that I too was experiencing the same problem as SteveDan (and maybe others?) with the notifications and didn't intend it to be taken as moaning! I mentioned the issue about losing my original login in case that it might be related to assist in perhaps sorting out the issue.

Why would anyone need a second id?! If your second one receives the alerts then it might be worth not using the first one then? Though I am still not entirely sure why anyone would need two memberships on here? It isn't like you gain anything more by doing so.

I personally dont have a 2nd id. Its my partners who is still getting alerts through

Still not alerting - I have noticed that number of postings has gone down over the last few days (or maybe its one of those things). Maybe this is a wider problem....but still visiting, still posting and thankfully partner still getting alerts !

Beate is absolutely right when she says to try not to lump your email alert issues together. From the very beginning people have tended to do that, but it doesn't help anything because in the majority of instances the problems are quite separate. I've just checked and we haven't gone over our email limit in a long time, so it's clearly not a general thing. I can try to help with individual cases but I need more info, such as all the threads/forums you are subscribed to.
Always the most important starting point is to make sure they're all read. Then, consider the possibility of a post or thread being moved - it will still need to be read. So for instance a Free Films post might have been moved to Competitions, the London board, or in the end as they all do, Expired Stuff. It is probably worth looking at the last email alert you got. If it includes any details about the specific post it's worth using the search function to try and find it.

I unsubscribed after realising I'd missed a few, then resubscribed, got a couple again, but now have stopped again.

Sometimes when chat is posted then deleted it can mess the alerts up.
Make sure you click on Mark Posts Read as that often helps.
