Frankenweenie
Re: Frankenweenie
I personally really enjoyed it. I felt it wasn't as dark and quirky as some of Burton's other work, but perhaps that was to make it appeal to a wider audience.
It was the right length, the storyline didn't start to drag. Characters were likeable, especially Sparky, and the Weird Girl with her cat!
Agree with other comments in that the 3D was totally unnecessary - it seems all kids movies have to be converted into 3D these days.
Castleford cinema was probably only a third full which I found to be a real shame. Not sure if that's down to the film itself or the promoters behind the event, probably the latter.
I would recommend to any Disney/Burton lover such as myself!

Went to see this in Sheffield last night.
Good to see Burton back to doing what he does best, very stylized stop-motion. As I've not been very impressed with his previous offerings.
Very enjoyable film with lots of nice horror references scattered about both obvious and subtle.

I saw this last night too and thought it was fantastic. Tim Burton back at his best after many years away! Loved all the hint at previous Burton films and of course to the old horror films too. An easy 8 out of 10 from me, possibly a 9.
Re: Frankenweenie
I saw this film last night at Cineworld in Cardiff. I would say the cinema was 3/4 full.
The film was fantastic. The first black and white film I have seen at the cinema. I thought that Sparky the dog was so cute. A definite 10/10 for me. Although the 3D element didn't really add anything to the film.

Saw this at the preview on Wednesday, was good. Good story and great characters especially the weird girl and her cat. It was cleverly put together and the animation was good. But felt it would of been more enjoyable if it was in colour. I didn't understand why the entire film was in black and white and yes I agree there was no need for the 3d feature.
Re: Frankenweenie
I went to see this on Wednesday and thought it was okay - I think Burton really needs Depp and Helena Bonham Carter to make a must see movie. Other than that it was quite entertaining and very clever, of course. Not sure why black and white was needed? And the 3D didn't always seem to work - though maybe that was the glasses / cinema that I was in?
Re: Frankenweenie
Saw it this morning, chose it over The Beasts of Southern Wild. Not sure it was the best choice.
The puppets / sets / animation / picture are brilliant, it's a real pleasure for the eyes.
But while I enjoyed Dark Shadows lat night, and usually love Tim Burton's films, I got quickly bored with this one. Too long for a rather simple story that didn't deserve 87 minutes.
I liked it, but it wasn't amazing and I left the place thinking I could have been in bed or at another screening.
6/10, the picture saves it
and please explain me why electricity killed the big rat while it's supposed to give the zombi-creatures more energy... maybe I missed something (?)
Re: Frankenweenie
Meh!
The picture is too dark, the 3D is not welcome (ghosting issues at Odeon Covent Garden), the stop motion lacks in fluidity, the story is dull and I found it quite immoral. In summary, Frankenweenie is an anti-ParaNorman.

3D was useless as always and i didnt like that the whole film was in black and white, storyline was okay but i preferred paranorman much more, and at least the kids where i went was very well behaved
