I went to this a few days ago and adored it. There are a few displays of the characters within settings of the film (the school, Victor's bedroom, the attic) which also have video screens on which you can see creators talk about the "making of", a larger display case showcasing a variety of the characters and costumes and sometimes several puppets of each character to show the different phases they went through and also show what's underneath the skin we see in the film. There were also sketches by Tim Burton, a chance to get your photo taken for free with you looking into the window of the classroom and a theatre at the back with short documentary features. Highly recommended!

Hoi,

a love Tim Burton in general and his previous animations have been beautifully dark and stylish.

But I'm afraid Frankenweenie just left me cold. It was ok, and better than a lot of kids animation out there but really felt that Burton just phoned this one in, it could really have been do much more. I should add i saw this in 2D as part of national school film week, and if I'd pa*d i would have felt somewhat cheated. It's possible that the 3D adds something but i don't think so.

In a week which i also

I liked the characters but found the story a bit dull.

Went to see this with the OH this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Done with typical Tim Burton style and with a score by long time collaborator Danny Elfman, Frankenweenie was as entertaining for me as the kids around us! However, I do think some scenes were a bit too much for some younger viewers, as evidenced by the young mum walking out with two crying kids after one particular scene!

The knowing nods to horror films were a nice touch and I really do think the film is quite the achievement, given the subject matter!

Despite enjoying this film, I WON'T be adding it to my DVD collection. I have no shame in admitting I was bawling my eyes out at key moments and subsequently, I'm spending this afternoon curled up on the couch with my puppy! :D

Has anyone been sent a reminder for Frankenweenie for 1 May, I did see a post for it at the beginning of the year but could not get tickets for it. Is this for real or not?
