Regarding my comment on the profusion of Ned Flanderses in the movie it was interesting to see the photographs of the real people alongside the actors over the end credits. They all looked amazingly like their character counterpart. And yes there were a couple of Ned Flanders look-a-likes in there! (Must have been an 80's thing!)

I was really looking forward to seeing Argo and it did not disappoint. It's an excellent political thriller, well-scripted, with the right balance of tension and humour, and expertly executed. The characterisation of the six hostages, judging by the real-life pictures shown at the end, is spot on. The film also has a credible 70s feel to it and recreates well the atmosphere of the Iranian revolution.

Schlepped myself to Argo this morning with a cold and glad I did. They had made a last minute change to a bigger screen so I had to run down the stairs again and we missed out on our favourite seats but we still got great ones - people were still coming in at 11.10 when the trailers were running.

Third time now and I still cry when they all hug. Awww.

Saw this again this morning with my Son, who thought it was really good. We arrived later than I usually do (waiting on my Son to 'get his hair right' - worse than a girl!!) I saw Beate, but she was 'resting her eyes' and I didn't want to disturb her as I know she wasn't feeling 100%. Waved to OH, but not sure if he recognised me!! Like you Beate, I also got tearful at the end when they hugged, even though I'd seen it before!!

Two words sum this up:-

HUUUUUUUGE GLASSES!

Saw this a second time this morning and it defionitely doesn't lose anything on repeat viewing. The tension definitely still builds and the finale still gets the emotions going.

I'm tempted to add another point to my score.

Ive been to a screening of Argo today and it is one of the best films ive been to this year.
It was totally captivating and had me hooked from the outset. having only been born in 1980 i wasnt really aware of the true events that happened at the time, so for me it the story unfolded as the film did, at the end i was on the edge on my seat with anticipation and hope for them all and breathed a sigh of emotional relief as it came to its conclusion. My heart was thumping for last half hour!
I would definatly recommend people to go and see this film.
A good solid film by Ben Affleck.

Went to see this film today at Stratford Picturehouse. With extremely positive reviews all around, I was slightly concerned about having high expectations built up. For one, I am not usually a big fan of political thrillers. So, went in with mixed expectations. Boy, I must say how much both OH and I enjoyed it. Thoroughly. I got so immersed in the film, the story telling and the delivery was done extremely well. Rarely I find myself quite this engrossed in a movie, that it felt personally real - even though I have absolutely no background knowledge about the incident. The whole story was completely new to me - apart from the Iranian revolution bit in the late 70's. I thought the details were well thought through - eg old BA and Swissair logos. The movie felt it was shot during the 80's with this slight "older film" hue / tinge.

All in very very enjoyable. A 9/10 for me.
