Re: Silver Linings Playbook
Saw this on Tuesday at a full Greenwich O2. I've not been out much for the last few months so it was lovely to meet fellow fmukers Beate and zoebanfield who kindly offered me a seat at the back of the balcony.
As the film started the title "Ginger and Rosa" came on screen. I was immediately annoyed and thought "Bugger it, I going to have to get up to tell an usher they've put the wrong film in". No sooner as I'd thought it, zoebanfield was up and heading for the door. Fortunately her hearing was a fast as her feet, since having heard the dulcet tones of Bradley Cooper, she realised that indeed the wrong title but right film was showing!
Anyway, I loved this film, having previously dated a bipolar man who was rather similar to Bradley Cooper's character in a number of ways, (not in looks unfortunately - yeh I said it) it really resonated with me - particularly his total honesty & exuberance at inappropriate times!
I felt Bradley Cooper & in particular Jennifer Lawrence were excellent in their roles & overall it was a well written, rom-com, sensitive to the issues of mental health without being soppy & although it had a predictable ending, I was rather grateful for it. Strongly recommended. 8/10

Re: Silver Linings Playbook
It was interesting for two thirds of it before descending into standard rom com fare.
Funniest bit was
when they were discussing the Eagles' results and Tiffany told them that she was with him every time they won and everyone took it so very seriously like it really made a difference!
Performances were ok but once the romance kicked in the movie lost me.
If anyone is interested DeSean Jackson scored this week but the Eagles lost.

Did anyone else get asked for a Times+ card before going in? I sent a couple of friends and they just managed to scrape in with my ticket.
Go ahead, make my day - by visiting my blog: http://jacobthehobnob.wordpress.com/

Re: Silver Linings Playbook
I quite enjoyed this. The film's biggest flaw is the tonal shift in the final act when it switches from serious drama/comedy to romantic comedy. It's a bit unfortunate that the very well set-up 90 minutes that precedes it is lost in favour of slightly cheesy ending. An excellent performance from Lawrence and some well timed comedic moments mean that this doesn't feel like a 122 minutes long film. 7.5/10.

Re: Silver Linings Playbook
went to Hackney Picturehouse and got rejected as the screening room was full
so I waited a lil bit to ask for my Slackers Club card and I got a free ticket for the Movie Sightseers :) and the manager asked me for my contact details and offered to send me a free ticket for Silver linings :)

Presumably they were Picturehouse members rather than "Guardian readers". Picturehouse members are allowed to come in 15 minutes late, apparently. I found this really irritating at The Gate - if you're late and are allowed in, please take the first aisle seat you spot, even if that's not the seat you really want. Don't try to get to a middle seat and blocking the screen for loads of people behind!Celini wrote:what time did you arrive? There was still people getting in at 11.15am for a 11am start!
Saw the film today, for a second time, because a friend of mine really wanted to go. It held up to a second viewing - this time I really noticed the choice of music more. I also noted a lot more audience laughter.

Re: Silver Linings Playbook
10:55, and there were ppl that arrived earlier than me and were sent back home too because we had Guardian tickets, at first I thought they were going to send us to a bigger screenroom but NO, we were simply sent back home :) apparently The Guardian just reserved a number a sits that by the time we arrived they had already exceeded that numberCelini wrote:what time did you arrive?
