I watched it tonight and why did Jake Gyllenhaal cut his hair?
I thought he looked better with hair.
And the ending was predictable and not a patch on Training Day.
Its from the writers of training.

Denzel Washington was amazing in the Training Day.

He was playing a cop in LA after being a US marine. I would imagine many ex-marines would still sport the shaven head look :)

problem with this movie is its premise, that its a derivative of 'found footage' movies.

And heres the problem, police dont record any old razzmatazz, for one thing it can lead to them being prosecuted, and its reprimandable within the force too when used outside the law. And this was most certainly the case for most of the scenes which relied on shock tactics to keep us interested. So its already stretching the idea of a found footage movie.

Factor into this that found fotage movies rely on unknown or largely unknown actors to negate the Hollywood feel these films have, and you instantly have a major problem - Jake G. Jake is a Hollywood main name, so the film becomes less real due to his presence, even though he puts in a fair performance.

Impossibilities mar the movie, such as a 150 midget cop taking down 220+ pound, well over 6 foot felon. NO way that happends in real life without lethal force being used. Again, shock tactics and plot improbabilities are used to make the film interesting, but the film is supposed to be about realism, so these mar the actual quality of the movie.

That aside, its a competent cop movie,fun to watch and excitingly contrived, and yep it would be very interesting to see actual footage from police adventures recorded like this but crafted into a gripping movie, or at least based on true recordings, but sadly here has been conceived a somewhat maddeningly mockumentary-like movie. 7.5/10.

I found this a very up and down film. Very much bites of audio/visual held together with the shakey film. Did enjoy the interplay of the 2 main characters but the other characters were very 2 dimensional. The stories did build into an expened ending, but wait......... it should have been a much more terrifying ending. I think I could have shot/aimed better than the bad guys!!

The language was way too much for OH who promtly fell asleep.

The "f" word used far, far too much in this. If you took out that word then the actors didn't have a lot of dialogue to learn!! Didn't like the camera work either but the film was a good cop movie and the sad ending was predictable but I would give it 7/10.

hee hee. Totally agree! But it was focused on a couple of characters, and once I realised this, I just thought "they are not worth listening to - delete every second word and you get all you need to know..." (Had there been an interactive keyboard, I would have killed said characters...)

He did this for Jarhead too - but I think he looked better now that he has "filled out" though.

Agree with don_datta that this film is a lot like the TV show Southland but I think Southland is far superior to this pretty run of the mill film. The baddies were truly atrocious -- call that acting????
