Same problem I had last week at The Gate. You're lucky you got an offer of a free ticket though, the guy at The Gate just smirked last week and told us we should have got there earlier.

Yeah, they were Picturehouse members. SFF members were turned away before the screening started - we did ask if we could wait for Picturehouse no shows, but were told that Picturehouse members were allowed in late and we weren't, so no point.

That said, today was the first time I've seen a film at The Gate and it's a lovely screen, really beautiful ceiling. I'd go back.

oh I see! I did not remember having to exchange printouts for tickets at Hackney, but it makes sense if they have a reserved allocation for PH members.

It must be a new thing though as I have never heard of this happening before and yet I was told of this myself last week or so when I enquired about something else - they have a set allocation for members and one for SFF and they will wait for the members to show up as they are guaranteed a seat and even if they don't turn up, SFF members will not be allowed in instead.
I don't think that's entirely fair, but having said that, turning up at 10.55 for an 11am screening is really leaving it a little late!

It must be a new thing, and I am glad I didn't have the problem. Friend and I got to Greenwich Picturehouse at 10.40 (for 11am) and we were given tickets already printed off but after ours there were only 2 left. Wonder if that would've been all the SFF allocation? Having said that, by the time the film started it looked like the screening room was entirely full, not leaving any space for any possible late arrivals from Picturehouse members.

As for the film; overall I enjoyed it and I though the performances were excellent (both from Cooper and Lawrence) but despite feeling too long it also felt like some things were left unresolved (not the sweet romantic ending, but more for instance the temper of the father). 7/10

There's reviews about this here already, just read through them.

If you already have the tickets, then why not go? It's not the best movie ever, but definitely entertaining.

The split allocation is not new. Picturehouse have always divided the tickets between Members and Media. Once each allocation is gone, its gone!

Back from a pretty full Braehead Glasgow. Good to see fmukers, McG, teddybear1 and OH and ploggit.

Well it was drawn out for me. Bit too indie style but interesting. Mental health is an sensitive issue so to make it a comedy took some guts. 6/10
