Trailer looks interesting, can't help feeling the similarities with Natural Born Killers - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110632/

Re: Sightseers
I've got my single DenofGeek ticket to see this tonight. Bit worried about the violence though. Hopefully it will be totes OTT like Kickass or Kill Bill, then I will be ok.

Re: Sightseers
I haven't watched Natural Born Killers so I don't know. It's not going to be for everyone. The killings are brutal, with ugly noises, a lot of blood and mutilated bodies. Because they are in sharp contrast to scenes of those gormless looking people innocently meandering through English landscapes and having perfectly pleasant conversations with aquaintances, it's quite shocking. I didn't like Kill List but even though you might have to look away now and then, I didn't mind so much with this one as it is kind of OTT and very funny. You begin anticipating the next victim from their actions, with groans going on in the audience "Oh no, did he just say that? He'll be next for sure!"

Re: Sightseers
Quite different in most respects to that film though. Best described as 'Mike Leigh's Badlands'. Badlands predating Natural Born Killers by quite a few years.RickyRaj wrote:Trailer looks interesting, can't help feeling the similarities with Natural Born Killers - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110632/

Re: Sightseers
I saw this back in early September at the FDA showcase and my impression (from memory) was that it was OK, was slightly quirky, but it didn't completely work. It was neither black comedy nor horror/violence. The result is that I felt quite uncomfortable watching it since scenes of extreme brutality are followed by deliberate attempts at comedy. A decent enough concept but I think the execution was a bit off the mark.
I rated it 6/10 when I originally saw it.

Re: Sightseers
Saw this tonight at Picturehouse Stratford.
I had high hopes for this film and was really quite underwhelmed by it. Some funny bits and then lots of dreary mundane scenes interspersed with violent graphic scenes which are made more shocking with the bone crunching sound effects.
It just did not work. I wanted to like this film but some how the sum of all the parts equaled something far less in this film.
I was expecting much more black humour .

Re: Sightseers
Absolutely superb. Hilarious.
yogi - could there have been more black humour? I thought the whole thing was about as dark as dark comedy can be!!

Re: Sightseers
Loved it, hid my eyes a few times, smiled to someone I thought was Valda till I saw a large tattoo on her shoulder and then wondered for a while. I didn't move from my seat so, Valda, if I missed you, I'm truly sorry. I'm really shy and clumsy and I didn't want to say hi to the wrong person... and if you were indeed the person with the tattoo, then sorry again.
Anyway: funny, unexpected, dark, gore, not the film of the year although different. And I like different.
And I liked the Den of Geek presents and beer.
7.5/10

haha I thought it was you but then what do I say? Are you Octopus? Are you French?
I quite liked this film but I guess I was expecting more. If you want to see this don't watch the trailer - most of the film seemed to be in it. Good characters and fantastic scenery. Lovely welcome from Den of Geek, I love those guys, free beer, gonk things and do not disturb tags.

Re: Sightseers
Saw it last night at the Charlotte Street Hotel screening and have to say ... absolutely loved it. Hilarious, touching, and provoking. Would definitely recommend.
