I too adore The Paradise, I've still got one episode to catch up on - I wouldn't mind but I only usually watch 2 hours of TV a week (the other hour was Downton Abbey) and still behindraj101 wrote:no shit? I was pretty disappointed in it. First eps really slow, then the last one crammed so much inhopeprince wrote:Anyone seen ITV's The Town with Andrew Scott?
I really enjoyed Last Tango in Halifax though

Will be watching the Christmas Special of Downtown Abbey later on today...but LAST christmas special, as I have only reached end of season 2, lol. Such a brilliant period drama, full of wit, charisma, and alluring storylines.
The Snowman and the Snowdog was charming with beautiful animation maintaining the sketch art technique of the classic original. But the centrepiece flying segment was a major let down, terrible song. I actually enjoyed the beautiful orchestral music that played up to that point and I wish they just simply stuck with the orchestra. Animation was the clear winner here though.
Its a terrific day's program of Christmas movies and tv shows. Toy Story, The Incredibles, Kung Fu Panda, Jurrassic Park, Singing in the Rain, Ben Hur, Gone with the Wind, On the Town, Fellowship of the Rings, Alladin, a host of Carry On movies, Airplane....all today! I have blu rays of most of these films but somehow, watching them on TV live broadcast gives me that holiday feel...I dont why, despite it being lesser quality, and commercial ridden (actually I like watching commercials).
But where oh where is my beloved Wizard of Oz

speaknig of parallel lives, I just polished off Awake. What a blindingly clever premise for a series. Perhaps a bit too clever, seeing as it got cancelled for its apparent complexity. The final episode is on another level, though dont expect too many answers to the questions that the series posed.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

The Paradise is rather awesome. Apart from the sumptuous sets, the appeal of a glance into a world thats now just beyond human memory (the 1870s, which noone alive now remembers, though there were veterans of that decade alive when we were still kids) is too tantalising to turn down. Yes, I hear series 2 is on the way so expect a bigger budget and more realistic sets that the last one (which did look a little cardboard in places lol).
The BBC website is worth a visit for its blog on the set and costume design and revealing videos on..corsets!

I watched 'Awake' and have the last episode to view...
