This was simply stunning!

Great acting (apart from Tarintino, he should stick as director)
Great Story
Great Soundtrack

The only downside was as previously mentioned some of the scenes dragged

9/10
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"

A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Thought this was decent. As someone who's watched Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs more times than one can even count, I always felt that since Kill Bill 2 Tarantino's been losing his midas touch. Much like that and moreso Inglourious Basterds, Django contains far too many scenes where the characters are annoyingly verbose and the dialogue not particularly interesting. Not to say it's a bad movie - it's a fun ride, just one which could do with a fine bit of editing IMHO. I also felt that Tarantino might've made this movie so as to incorporate the "N" word as many times as he desired without getting criticised for it.

BTW, this is the supposed trunk shot:

Went to see this in the Cameo on a Saturday afternoon with OH, Stuartboy and a couple of friends. Glad it was in the big screen rather than the other two wee screens.

This was an interesting fun ride with Waltz stealing the show here whilst Foxx and DiCaprio weren't too bad either. I didn't think the N word was used over excessively when put into context. I felt it was a tad too long and agree with Celine
the film kinda of die a little when Waltz's character died. The film got silly with how shall we finished this film now. Oh let's have a bloodbath or two.
Jackson's character Stevens just annoyed me as well. The soundtrack though I really liked.

Preference of cinemas:- 1. Glasgow Renfield Street Cineworld, 2. Glasgow Showcase, 3. Braehead Odeon, 4. Vue Fort, 5 Glasgow Springfield Quay, 5. any other cinema in Glasgow area including Hamilton
Also Falkirk, Dunfermline and Stirling but these are rarely used for free previews.

Muchos thankidos to Yinster for taking me to this this afternoon. A perfect Saturday afternoon movie (pity the sun was splitting the trees today after a weeks rain and gales!).

I really enjoyed it although I was a little concerned initially with the long duration of the film, coupled with the cinema being like a furnace. I was expecting to drift off to sleep pretty quickly - but didn't (unlike Fix-it Felix this morning).
It was definitely a film of 3 halves. (Can anyone explain the origin of describeing films as having 3 acts? Is it a historical thing? Or to do with theatre? Most plays I have seen only have 2). The first 2 acts rolled along telling a nice wee story, then all of a sudden we were thrust into a total OTT fight scene - typically Tarantino, but completely excessive. The special effects were also OTT and more like a cartoon than being realistic. It was definitely more like they were using paintballs as ammunition!

Some good characterisations, but no memorable acting to write home about. Also some unexpected cameos that I spotted - and some I didn't. I really showed my age by remembering Lee Horseley from TV though.

I'll give this a healthy 7/10.

...and Russ Tamblyn! Yinster hadn't a clue about Tom Thumb! I'm the yaaaaaaaawning man, the yawning man....one of my favourite childhood fims! This used to be shown every Christmas along with Wizard of Oz and Sound of Music.

I'm a big Tarantino fan but I didn't like this film. Waltz was great as always, Tarantino used the era to say the N word as many times as possible, it was too long including over excessive fight scenes and annoyed that the female lead only had a couple of sentences to say even though she was the main focus of the film where Django is concerned. Abysmal performance by Tarantino, my friends and I are still debating as to what accent he was trying to pull off...Australian, English, Mexican, who knows! .

Plus his real daughter Amber (Joan of Arcadia) playing his character's daughter. His character name ('Son of a Gunfighter) a reference to the 1965 film he starred in as the eponymous hero.
