too technical? how would that be?newdot wrote:I don't think it can be a "faulty copy" as some cinema re-showed film from the start when problem had been rectified. Probably just needed to twiddle some settings on the projector...stop me if I am getting too technical for you :)

Re: The Croods
What time did this start at the 02? I got stuck in traffic and would have made it for 10.40 but realised the ticket didn't say the usual 10 for 11 start but 10.30! Thought we shouldn't risk walking in 10mins late and abandoned the trip. Just curious to know if O2 Greenwich stuck to their usual morning screening time?

Re: The Croods
well it did start at 10:30, but they messed up the 3D, so they had to stop the movie and adjust the settings. So, it properly started at 10:40

Re: The Croods
Thanks Livi92, probably made the right decision, annoying roadworks! Shame it sounds like it was a good movie.

Re: The Croods
Cineworld WIQ left everyone waiting outside in the cold until about 10.10am (and it is really freezing this morning) then opened the door no one was queuing in front of. We had to switch our phones off but plenty of people switched them back on once inside. It got quite full with plenty of people arriving at the last minute or even after that. The film started late too. For reasons I did not understand the audience was predominantly Chinese looking - do they read The Sun a lot or did they give out tickets in the Chinese community?
I wasn't looking forward to this so much after I'd seen an underwhelming trailer but I loved it and laughed loads - it's fantastically funny, with a bright and colourful landscape (once they leave the cave) and cute animals. That hunt for the egg at the beginning that played out more like a ball game was frenetic fun. It was entertaining to see the development the family went through with the help of new people and things (fire, shoes, jokes, pets). Some things didn't quite work, for example the Gran sounded way too young and Thunk was too fat for a cave boy who doesn't get much too eat normally, but you can overlook these things for the bigger picture of a family facing and overcoming their fears and starting to live, have adventures and make new friends. "Belt" was so funny! "Tadaaa!"

Re: The Croods
Just back from Multimedia screening this morning, where they had food for the first time in an age. I went to Pret for breakfast due to usual lack of anything edible at these things. The one time I plan ahead...
Anyway, the film was a crushing disappointment, lacked soul and heart, broad strokes characters, jokes and drama. Didn't care about anyone until it started getting dark, but then they didn't have the bits to go darker, and probably make a more interesting film. Ended up being a non-event from one of the directors of Dreamworks' second best film.
Decent 3D, great looking, but all for nought.
More dull than anything else.
