Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
On Wednesday I saw Once the musical, which I thought a mesmerising piece of theatre. Beautiful story (and much funnier than the film), beautiful voices and beautiful staging with a backdrop of mirrors that provided the audience with a view from all sides. There was no separate orchestra so it fell upon the actors' shoulders to play the instruments as well, which really gave the whole experience a much more intimate feel than normal musicals do.
I was however slightly disappointed that I did not feel the emotional connection to the story and characters I was led to believe was a big part of the show. No tears from my end, alas. Still 8/10 for overall a very different kind of show.
Also, do try to get there early as you can mingle on the stage beforehand and in the interval as it is also a real working bar (and if you b*y a drink it comes with a Once cup you can keep) and the actors come on stage about 20 minutes before the show to perform some songs, which sets up the intimate and informal atmosphere of the musical.
I was also lucky to see Book of Mormon again on opening night last week and my full (five star, of course) review can be found here:

A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"
A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

It finished just before 10pm if I remember correctly, so probably 2.25 hours.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
The musical nominations for this year's Olivier Awards are quite rubbish... Yay for Loserville, Top Hat and A Chorus Line but it's all a bit thin (thank god Viva Forever didn't get any noms though, I feared they might as there was just so little to pick from this year). Next year should be much more exciting with Book of Mormon, Once, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and a bunch of other shows that are rumoured to open.
Play nominations are somewhat better, especially pleased with all the Curious Incident nods. Full list of nominations:

If nothing else, I feel The Curious Incident deserves the Set Design Award which was not only inventive but extremely effective. I'm sure it will win several awards though.
I'm hoping the lovely James McAvoy wins too.

Not free but only £1.75 - £2.50 (depending on location) per set of upto 4 tickets.
We have 100 complimentary family tickets (admits up to 4 people) to:
Wallace & Gromit Musical Marvels, produced by the BBC Worldwide
Playing in Brighton and London this Easter
Have added to Theatre/Show Discounts http://www.fmuk.org.uk/forum/viewtopic. ... 55#p285755 unless anyone think the very low charge warrants a 'Free' tickets alert. The London tickets are priced from £17.50 each without the discount.

I think you put it in the right place :) I wasn't sure where to post it myself as I completely forgot about the discount thread...

I'm absolutely AMAZED to see that there were free tix available for both Untold Stories and The Winslow Boy, which I'm very keen to see. I realise that one was by invitation only - maybe both were - but they've had such rave reviews, and have both opened/transferred so recently that this seems surprising. And with Easter coming, too - you'd think business would be better just now.

If there was a list, I was on it for both. Sadly had to cancel as was waiting for an urgent e-mail that never came! And on my day off! Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I am sad they were both matinees as I really want to see them! I know it's bad of me but I hope more dates for them will come up.
