Saw it at Union Square tonight and cinema was probably only 2/3 full.
I absolutely loved it. Easily the best horror remake since Dawn Of The Dead in 2004. Some great nods to the original series but it took its version on its own different path which I liked.
Refreshing to see a proper full on 18 rated horror these days which isn't just torture porn.

Really enjoyed it and agree with a lot of you. I don't understand some of the stick people have been giving it. Fede Alvarez's first feature film too. And his first English language one. Pretty excited to see what else he does in the future.

stuartboy wrote:A breath of fresh air seeing a horror of this genre (as opposed to the ghost - BOO! sort) which doesn't go and ruin the mood by being more of a comedy than a chiller. It is entirely plausible from start to finish and the SFX are second to none. Even the blood looks realistic for a change cf. Insidious last week where it looked like translucent red food colouring.
My only criticism would be that it failed to introduce and characterise the cast. The 2, or was it 3? females are looked and sounded the same and became virtually indistinguisable from one another as things developed.
Poor Grandpa! Woof.
I'm really hoping that I've got the original on disc. I want to see it again soon to contrast.
All I can say is "Groovy!"
8/10
Best blood and gore horror of the year.
I watched the original before I went to see it today. I'd call it more of a loose sequel or a reboot rather than a remake. Agree with you on the SFX bit. It's amazing what the creative team behind it did without the aid of CGI.

I would say it's more of a loose sequel set many years after dead by dawn
So what does everyone think the sequel will be about, I think that someone could come across the ruins of the cabin and come across the book of dead and take it to maybe a bigger setting like a small town or city

I saw this last night at Cineworld Bristol, enjoyed the film. The cinema was about 2/3 full.
What did annoy me was that before we went in there was a man outside the cinema waiting for his friends to turn up as they all turned up he was handing out the tickets to them all, after handing them all tickets he still had at least 6 printed tickets/pieces of paper which he stuffed into his pocket and not used.I thought this was greedy and unnecessary that he did this when those tickets were wasted and someone else could have had them...

Thought this was quite good not too scary but very gory, LOL'd a couple of times too. I had a feeling something was gonna be shown after the credits rolled but left anyway...can someone put a spoiler in with what happened? 8/10
The scariest thing about going to this cineworld is the price for parking-£3.50- but my OH discovered tonight its free for cinema-goers! After all this time & money wasted going into that damn meter grrr
The two old boys always joke that they are searching our handbags for sweets!! Have seen both of them several times at security before we go in. Sorry you didn't realise that the car parking is free if you are going to the cinema - even when it is a free screening - you just have to validate your car parking ticket at the entrance to the cinema.
As for the film - have seen better and it was more gory than creepy. How come after all the blood during the film when she pulled her hand off from under the car there wasn't a drop of blood to be seen!!!
Average for me - 5/10

I could probably guess who they are.

One of the them told me last week he was working it but thought it was a different film till I informed him correctly.
