I know that I'm probably being ridiculous but as the Pavilion is free with the Art Pass (which will be valid for 3 months when it arrives) and I have loads of redspottedhanky codes I'm contemplating booking a day out to Brighton from Manchester so making the most of an opportunity but wondering if it is worth it as I can get there for free using my codes and if I leave home at 7am I will be in Brighton for 11am then will have about 6 - 7 hours in Brighton. I do have these mad ideas but do have lots of stamina too so any tips will be fab.

Arts passes for the Royal Pavilion at Brighton are terrific. We just flashed ours and could avoid the very long queue and you must see this amazing edifice, Diane. Quite mind blowing! Do go inside!
We had a family day out some time back (2 summers ago I think) using extremely cheap tickets from Southern Rail (when they had 50p tickets to loads of places for a short while if you could cope with the awful website) so ended up having a very nice day out for very little money. And don't forget Brighton Pier and there was a very nice Art Museum too. Hope the weather obliges!

You two lovely ladies have sold it to me so as soon as the art pass arrives I will get booking it. If its a long day I can sleep on the train home, its looking like the end of June so should have some sunshine. Thanks once again.

Brighton Pier is nice as is the Sea Aquarium. They have a lovely old town and there is lots to see or just sit on the beach and sun yourself - weather permitting of course. Hove is not far by bus either, I think there are a museum or two there.

Thanks Beate I love a mooch around old towns and a bit of sunshine will be most welcome. Just looked at Hove and it is so pretty, I've never been to that side of the UK so its about time I did.

Just booked my train tickets to Brighton :cheer: Thanks girls for your tips and to Betty Botter as you have treated me to my return train from London Victoria to Brighton (with the codes that you gave to me) and to yogi and akh43 for alerting me to the other codes and art pass so in total it has cost me £3.95 for a day trip to Brighton from Manchester with DD o/ Just need to b*y a p*y as you go Oyster card - I need tips re how do you get a young persons railcard added to one.

You take the railcard and oyster card to any tube station booking office and they process it for you.
Preferred cinemas:
Central London and North London as far north as the Hampstead Everyman including Picturehouse Hackney/Notting Hill Gate - but not Wood Green and North Finchley as they are just a bit too far.

Thanks so much for that so I take it we just b*y the p*y as you go oyster card on line and then get it processed when we arrive in London.

Yes - you just register it on to p*y as you go oyster card but you can b*y oyster card at the same time if you don't want to do it in advance - depends on how much time before you need it.

NB it does not affect bus only travel (which has the normal cap) but good if you are using tube as the daily cap is lower..
