Great film, I absolutely loved it. Ben Kingsley was hilarious, anyone know what LFC game he was watching?

Agreed! We went and got the normal 3d glasses before the film started as I didn't want to spend most of the film pushing them back up.

As was already mentioned the only thing to really spoil it for me was the need for people to be rustling noisey bags of popcorn and stuff. The wife even turned round and snapped at the people behind us at one point as their 9 year old son (yes 9 years old!) was just continually making noise with his popcorn bag. In one particular scene
when the iron man suit attacks pepper potts in bed
it sounded like the 9 year old son was going to hyperventilate from the shock! I might be old fashioned but I don't think this was a particularlly suitable film to bring a 9 year old too.
I took my kids 5 & 7 to Didsbury - don't really see what you are all getting worked up about - its a superhero film - my son 5yo absolutely loves superheroes Batman, Spiderman etc etc. He got dressed in his Iron Man suit and looked great, was super excited and had a fab night.

There is going to be noise such as rustling bags of popcorn etc - surely that's part of the experience of seeing at the cinema with other people - if you want total silence then watch at home on dvd in the sterile atmosphere of you living room. I appreciate people talking and mobile phones are not acceptable but the other moans are petty.
It's a 12A for a start, and the Parental Guidance on imdb says this:
"Iron Man 3 has a somewhat darker tone than the original two (though it's not as dark as it seems from the trailer, as clarified by the producer). Scenes in this movie may frighten young children."

And no, for me, rustling popcorn is NOT part of the cinema experience - I want to see a film on the big screen, not listen to other people making noise. We had popcorn too which we got from another screening but we finished it before the film started. We didn't eat it at the screening we got it at because we don't believe in eating during a film. If your kids had a great night and weren't inconsiderate, fine. Unfortunately not everyone is, and ratings are usually there for a reason.

In spite of having several dozen regular 3D glasses at home (FMUKCON, don't ask) I didn't take any with me and the special ones, far from sliding around had a hard plastic join which dug into my skin! That aside, we loved the film especially as the O2 is outside my can-I-be-bothered-zone and we got to go to the Odeon West End premiere. My OH was shown on the red carpet for a nano second but I spotted him.

We arrived at 6.10 pm and had to sit separately as the place was already so full and we didn't fancy the front rows. The guys next to me were on their phones constantly during the film (one of them checked it at least 8 times, the other a more conservative 3/4 times) so I did wonder why no staff were checking when they claimed they were going to be strict. I wish they had been checking and that the two of them had been chucked out. I agree that the amount of food consumed during a film is awful. We, like Beate, don't eat during a film and we manage not to have to sip water every 10 seconds either which is also annoying if you are sitting behind someone who uncaps and caps a bottle a few dozen times during a film. For goodness sake -- can we not eat, drink copious amounts, talk on the phone or chat out loud for a short while??? And yes, talking out loud was another trait the two guys next to me exhibited last night. They thought anytime the volume was high they could chat -- like the entire last 10 minutes or more of Iron Man 3. So annoying.

In spite of all this, I liked the film and glad I made the journey to The O2.

I personally was disappointed with iron man 3, not everyone will think the same as I do but for me there was too much stark not enough iron man badassery, waaaaaaay to much buddy scenes with stark and rhodes anf everyone else in the movie and the plot was terrible with no real agenda to it, the "epic" finale to me was very poor and couldn't top the avengers finale
Iron man 3 can rust in pieces

Really enjoyed this, it was different, bold and a lot more ambitious than Iron Man 2. I personally was hoping for more Stark and Rhodes team-ups and the last scene was a bit underwhelming, but it was still quite special. Funny and very very unexpected. Also thought the 3D glasses were a nice touch, although the 3D itself was just meh. 8.5/10

Went to the preview for Iron man 3. Like the special Iron Man 3D glasses, very cool and special. Really enjoyed the film great actions and surprising funny, however I was a bit disappointed about the ending. .
