Not a performance but a talk (one of countless interesting free talks held all the time in London). However I thought it might be of particular interest to some here:

Meet the Critics - Saturday 27th April 11.00-16.00

The Critics' Circle, the oldest critics' organisation in the world, is celebrating its centenary this year and this is one of the special events they are holding.

What exactly do critics do and do we need them? Join us to celebrate the centenary of The Critics’ Circle.

THIS TALK IS FREE AND YOU CANNOT BOOK IT - JUST TURN UP ON THE DAY

Leading critics from the worlds of Art, Dance, Film, Music and Theatre will be on hand to meet their public and answer these and other questions in a day of lively debate and controversy.

A Seminar in the Lydia and Manfred Gorvy lecture theatre at the Victoria and Albert Museum on Saturday 27 April. The morning session chaired by Paul Gambaccini runs from 11am to 1 pm and panels of critics from our five sections, drama, music, film, dance and visual arts, will talk briefly about their work and answer questions.

The afternoon session from 2pm. to 4pm will be chaired by Mariella Frostrup and a panel of critics will discuss with the audience the future of criticism in the on-line age and pretty well anything the audience comes up with.

The critics taking part include Barry Norman, Michael Billington, Corinne Julius, Mark Shenton, Jason Solomons, Hugh Pearman, Jeffery Taylor, Fiona Mountford, Claire Allfree, Richard Morrison, Libby Purves, Sarah Crompton, Guy Dammann, David Gritten, Simon Tait and Sanjoy Roy.

Guest list. Maybe for the best, I like Marcel Lucont but I cannot stand Sara Pascoe. She's a sweet girl, but her Edinburgh preview last year was the worst piece of comedy I can remember seeing.
Preferred cinemas:
Vue West End, Cineworld Haymarket, Odeon West End, Odeon Leicester Square, Empire Leicester Square, Cineworld O2, Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue and Odeon Panton Street, followed by anywhere in central(ish) London.

Ack sorry! That is the second time my random SFF account (which I rarely use and on which I've never booked comedy) received an "invite only" email then :/

Always worth posting. Some people will be able to use the code without having received the email. Plus I'm nosey, I like to know what's going spare on the invite only list. ;)

It's an incredibly apt adaptation of the book (which is very good indeed) and the experience is heightened in the theatre with very clever and impressive staging making it a beautiful production overall.

Luke Treadaway is brilliant in the surprisingly physical role of Christopher and highly deserves his Olivier nod, I really hope he wins it. 10/10
Did you book in advance or b*y a day ticket? Also, any advice on seating in this theatre as the £12 balcony seats do look miles away.....?
Preferred cinemas:
Central London and North London as far north as the Hampstead Everyman including Picturehouse Hackney/Notting Hill Gate - but not Wood Green and North Finchley as they are just a bit too far.

I'd recommend booking in advance as my friend queued for day seats and she had to get there a little after 7am for a chance to get tickets!

We were front row of the stalls so I did not see and cannot comment on the balcony seats.
