Also at Glasgow tonight! The latecomer behind us with what sounded like a full packed lunch was a bit disturbing. Loved this, I would have happily watched this on tv so seeing on the big screen was fab. I just kept thinking is it real or a spoof? How could the security and diplomats be so stupid? A sad story which I hope does have an ending one day. 8/10

Packed Edinburgh tonight.

I have mixed feelings about this and it wasn't as good a documentary film as I expected it to be.

If that's the standard of the whole FBI, heaven help us all!!

Compelling to watch and intriguing, but how much did they know?

Saw this at Glasgow too and lots of latecomers would have had difficulty in figuring out how this all fitted together having missed the first 15 minutes or more.

If this wasnt a true story it would have been unbelievable and I would have said it was rubbish! However, it IS a true story, therefore I found it totally facinating. I don't understand how it is possible for Bourdin to have done what he did without being found out earlier. As for the family...... well..... no way do I believe anything they said! How could they NOT have known? Bourdin was/is completely psycho. The family are hiding something. I enjoyed the movie as did my dear old Dad. Easily a 7/10.

Beate wrote:There is an article in the latest Shortlist about Frederic Bourdin - it's breathtaking how selfish the man is. He says he doesn't have regrets because he met his wife because of this and now he is a husband and father of three kids so it was fate. Not a word of the anguish caused to the devastated family who thought they got their son and brother back. Mindboggling.

Will have to catch this next week with a voucher.

I worry for his children.

I saw this in a lovely nearly empty Wandsworth, with no trailers beforehand. o/

so this wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be, from the reviews etc. I drifted off a good few times during the film, and only got a bit more interested towards the end.

I know its true, and the guy is a major con man but how can anyone with heavy 5 o'clock shadow and brown eyes, become a 16 year old blond hair blued kid? Can you inject stuff in your eyes to turn them a different colour?

I did marvel at the reveal, you think it's impossible he could do these things, then you think of Catch Me If You Can, and what he did. It would be a lot harder these days (hopefully to get away with such things.

I also went through stages of feeling sorry for all of the characters then getting to see things from someone else's side, and totally changig my mind.

Are none of you staggered by the fact that he did this so many times beforehand? And also that whilst in jail, he rings other poor parents and tries to con them too?

I gasped in shock when we find out he is married with children. Men like him should be castrated.

I totally agree that the family had strange motives. Let's not forget that his brother realised this wasn't his little brother but didn't care enough to tell his mother and sister. This is a very strange family to say the least.

castrated is a bit harsh, this is not the Middle Ages! But hundreds of times is freakish. Surely he has better things to do in life. Perhaps no one told him when he was young that you only get one life in this world so best make good use if it!

But I agree that a guy like this needs surveillance and some kind of parole.

Great documentary, though I was a little taken aback that this guy was dictating the movie! Would be up to watch The Chameleon as well. Seems a waste of talent that hes spending his time defrauding people, he needs recruiting into the FBI or MIB for his knowhow and nerves of steel, surely they could be put to a productive, decent use.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I'm glad I watched Chameleon after I saw The Imposter and not the other way round because they have messed around with the story quite a lot.

I watched this last night via my Lovefilm subscription. I thought it was well made and I did feel somewhat sorry for the family but had no sympathy for the Frenchman, the guy just did not care - nothing to do with me working for a French bank :D 8/10
