It was the Haymarket theatre in Basingstoke, not sure if we have any theatre goers in that area on here. It's a shame if we don't as we get a few codes for that theatre.Livi92 wrote:Did anyone go to Curiosity shop at Haymarket?

No, but I saw it in Southampton.... It was a very good modern re-telling!Livi92 wrote:Did anyone go to Curiosity shop at Haymarket?
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"
A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

I would have to agree with canadian_turtle, The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night-Time is fantastic, really brings the book to life. 10/10 for sure, if you get the chance to go, you really must. I thought the first half was stronger but I can't deny that it is very well done and the lead actor is magnificent as Christopher.moondance wrote:Did you book in advance or b*y a day ticket? Also, any advice on seating in this theatre as the £12 balcony seats do look miles away.....?canadian_turtle wrote: On the opposite end of the scale I saw The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time on Saturday, which is easily one of the best plays I've ever seen.
It's an incredibly apt adaptation of the book (which is very good indeed) and the experience is heightened in the theatre with very clever and impressive staging making it a beautiful production overall.
Luke Treadaway is brilliant in the surprisingly physical role of Christopher and highly deserves his Olivier nod, I really hope he wins it. 10/10
moondance, I sat at the front of the the balcony and they were ok seats. When we first got to our seats we regretted not getting something better but the play is so good that it was quickly forgotten and we were just pleased to have had the opportunity to see it (and at a great price too!). I saw it on a Friday night a couple of weeks ago and there wasn't a spare seat in sight. It does get very steep the further back you go and you do have to stretch to see parts of the stage (lovely close up views of the amazing ceiling at the Apollo though
If you can, I would suggest the front rows of the dress circle. I think they would be best so you get a good view of the stage floor in its entirety. However the prices are crazy and availability is limited - I wanted to go and see it again but if I want better seats it will cost £80+

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I saw Viva Forever on Friday, was a friends birthday and so there was quite a large group of us, the theatre was actually quite full and we did enjoy ourselves but probably more so because we were ladies of the age where Spice Girls music takes us straight back to our teens and could sing along.
I just felt the show/story itself was quite lazy, they could have done so much more with these songs, some of the cast were far more talented than others which really showed too. Second half was much better than the first, but had I not gone prepared from reading other reviews on here I would have been quite disappointed.
Still it was a great girls day out!!

Glad you enjoyed it more than I did. I wish I could've seen it as just a fun show with Spice Girls songs but for me the poor book, acting and singing was far too distracting and the songs were often rearranged so much that there was little left of the catchy Spice Girls tunes.Rainey wrote:I saw Viva Forever on Friday, was a friends birthday and so there was quite a large group of us, the theatre was actually quite full and we did enjoy ourselves but probably more so because we were ladies of the age where Spice Girls music takes us straight back to our teens and could sing along.
