This weekend my half marathon training was hampered by a cold. That said I did 4.5 miles this morning before it got to hot.

Looking forward to hear from you all some more :)

My goodness you 2 men are certainly determined. You both need a good rest so sit back and get your feet up.

I have eaten healthily today but I'm afraid to say haven't done any exercise at all even though I've been up since 7am as I got carried away painting my gates which took forever but pleased that they are done. The painting isn't much exercise as its metal work so you don't move much but the getting rid of the rust with a wire brush before hand may count  I will get back into it as I've no excuse
Diet wise mine is not so good, don't seem to find the time to make healthy food as much as I would like. Any food tips welcome.

For what it's worth, I try to keep my food pretty simple, that way I can't mess it up too much! Also, it makes things much easier when carting it to work too!

Typical day-
Drink 1 pint of water as soon as I get up.
Breakfast: 2-3 rashers of grilled bacon (trimmed of fat), 2 scrambled eggs, 2 portions of frozen berries, coffee.
Mid-morning: Protein shake made with 300ml of semi skimmed milk, 100ml of fat free yoghurt, 1 scoop of protein powder.
Lunch: Either 200g of chicken breast or last night's leftovers with frozen veg (and some Pace salsa if it's the chicken)
Afternoon snack: apple, protein bar (if I'm exercising that evening)
Dinner: Whatever my OH is good enough to make me but usually meat and steamed veg.

I'm also drinking at least 2 litres of water every day.

However, that all goes out the window on nights like tonight, when I sank a couple of pints and had a burger and chips before popping in to see the new Star Trek movie!

Sounds good John. I'm good most of the time but due to changes at work I'm having to be more sociable which means more drinking unfortunately. What's the best low calorie alcoholic drink I could consume?

Best low calorie drink are white sprits (vodka, bacardi, gin) with diet mixers.. roughly about 50-60calories per shot and the mixers are only 1-2 calories.

Hey everyone, its been a while since my last post and there have actually been some changes that i would like to report :D But before that I would just would like to say thanks to mr JohnMilton for all his posts recently as they have been very motivational and well done on your progress too sir ! Its posts like yours that keeps everyone reading and stay motivated so thanks again

My changes are

Firstly, I have started drinking aloe vera everyday, the one i drink is a pure aloe vera gel , its tastes DISGUSTING, however i mix a capful of it into a glass of orange juice to hide the taste, i can still taste the aloe vera through it but its much more drinkeable in this form ,

Secondly i have started to drink green tea, mainly after meals, i still drink my sugarless normal tea in the mornings and sometimes at tea times, but all other times its always green tea

Lastly, i have started eating salads at lunch , all thanks to the wonderful and prime specimen of a woman we have here , known as lady Diane65 :) Your chicken salad idea has become a part of my life during lunch, i also have the salad with fish (usually mackerel or sardines twice a week (as per nutritional guidelines which recommend eating oily fish twice a week) , and as a result of this is the fact that i dont have any carbs for lunch now which is fantastic as i really feel a lot more fresher and more active during the day, i have enough carbs in me from my breakfast of porridge and my mid morning banana which keeps me going way past my carbless lunch , i also feel a lot more agile and lighter when i am kickboxing in the evenings too due to this lighter yet perfectly nutricious lunch.

I have to say i feel reaaaly great nowadays , even more so than before, i can really feel the benefits of the combination of aloe vera, green tea and the salads , highly recommend to everyone ! The aloe vera is expensive though at nearly £20 a bottle as its the pure stuff , but it should last me a good 2-3 months and i think its well worth it, anyone can easily spend £20 on junk food over a weekend so instead a £20 spend on something healthy like this that will last much longer is a worthwhile substitute :)

It is amazing how different you feel and look when you eat so well. I'm pleased that you are enjoying my tandoori chicken which was an adaptation of your recipe so technically your idea. I'm really interested in the aloe vera as I've only used it on bites or sunburn but never eaten it but willing to give it a go. I love reading the very different way that you men eat as opposed to the girls on this thread, I've never tried a protein shake or bar in my life.

I have just returned from a 40th birthday and I had a generous portion of Hot Pot and 3 glasses of diet coke and now feel sluggish but wide awake and my belly resembles a pregnant pig  I haven't drank any water today just black coffee so my skin will look that greyish colour in the morning  So it says it all you can follow moviemann's lead and feel fabulous or do as I've done today and feel yuk (I don't meal ill just not glowing - I will drink lots of water when I get up)!!

Moviemannn, I'm humbled by your thanks and I hope that in some small way my rambling on here has been of some benefit.

Now I have to find the motivation to get off the internet and go outside on this horrible day for some sprinting drills.

Two pounds lost this week as I am back to the walking and still swimming. Sounds good but it is only the weight I had put back on in the previous weeks so will have to be stricter with the carbs if I want to lose more and get back into the old routine that lost me so much weight last summer. :cross:

Off to the Scottish borders today for my two night stay in a farm cottage that I won. o/ Going out at night for our evening meal both nights so will have to watch what I eat - I say that now full of good intentions but once there and I read the menu - what more can I say!
