Re: Easy Money
I saw this at Nordicana and rather predictable but has some interesting angles, a pretty decent watch though.

Re: Easy Money
Phew, lucky I came on here. I didn't realise this was a Nordic film that was subtitled... as we all know I have the attention span of a flea when it comes to subtitles.
What I came on here to say was that if anyone is watching this on Thursday at Islington there are going to be road closures between 6.30-8.30pm for the City Race. Not sure which roads exactly, but I saw the sign at Angel.

Re: Easy Money
Saw this tonight at Glasgow - surprised there were only half a dozen people that left...and one person that arrived an hour after the film started!!!
Having read mixed reviews before the film and knowing it was subtitled I wasn't sure what to expect however I was disappointed. I didn't really follow the story and spent most of the two hours wondering what was going on!
Left me with more questions than answers...

Re: Easy Money
Arrived at the O2 ridiculously late at 6.10pm and apparently the balcony had already filled up so we took seats downstairs but I wasn't going to let the balcony go without a fight so I snuck out, pretending to go to the loo and went upstairs where no ushers were around anymore. Found two empty seats straight away - they weren't next to each other but not too far apart. Phoned OH downstairs and told him to make his way up. He was initially a little put out about not sitting next to me, but when the walkouts started we found a solution. And boy did the walkouts start. I only saw my little area on the left side of the balcony and we had 10 walkouts there. All 4 guys to my right left together leaving a mess of popcorn and empty beers behind, so we happily moved over there. Was it the sub titles? The English title never came up anywhere and "Snabba cash" (what a cool title) evidently meant nothing to some, as they all left within the first half hour.
I was determined to stick it out as I was on the balcony now and after all, it was only 99 minutes long, right? I couldn't for the life of me figure out why the movie just ran and ran - 9pm (Luther!) came and went and still no end in sight. Turns out I had checked out Snabba Cash II on imdb this morning which is already filmed but not out yet and Snabba Cash from 2010 is 124 agonising minutes long.
I must admit that I hadn't really got a clue what was going on apart from criminals crossing and double-crossing each other, with the posh-looking Johan (that hairdo!) in the middle looking increasingly bewildered and alarmed at the violence shown by the professionals. Even though JW, Jorge and Mrado are all shown having families that they care about, you don't really care that much about them and whether their sister will have a baby boy or girl.
It was still better than Frances Ha, but it was half an hour too long and they seriously need to sort the white on white subtitles out. In two instances they were also deliciously wrong ("I enjoying sailing" and "I've have money too!") I mean honestly, you had till 2010 to get them right, no? At the end I was deep-frozen, tired, hungry and couldn't wait for it to end.

Re: Easy Money
This film dragged on a little, and in the Bristol showing 6 people walked out, a few as soon as they realised this was a subtitled film.
I think that if I had switched on my TV and this was on, I would probably have found something else to grab my attention, but as soon as I'd watched the first hour I was keen to see how the gangsters were going to outdo each other, and the plans they had.
I thought that this was enjoyable, but I'm in no rush to see the sequel.

Meh!
White words on white backgrounds...dark swarthy bearded man after dark swarthy bearded man, with only blondie to be easily recognised...two sets of dialogue on screen at any time and not necessarily actually seeing who spoke them makes this very hard indeed to keep track of. Add to that a very early start this morning for me gave me the attention-span of a gnat and the inability to follow or concentrate.
Don't get me wrong - I can do words - I'm loving Sunday evenings Les Revenants on C4, but this was just tedious to watch.
It ended. I could care less.

Re: Easy Money
Edinburgh was packed and we only had 2 walk outs. Of course they were sitting next to me, so had to sqodge past!
I really liked this. Scandic film noir. Great mix of nationalities and actors. I liked the story too.
Poor JW though what a plonker!
Anyone notice the theme of Scandic films if you have bad hair (but you clearly think it's great) and you do sometyhing bad your punishment involves having your lovely locks chopped off and you end up looking much better for it?!!
7/10 ffrom me.

Oh, and thanks to the two ignorant old bastards in Edinburgh that refused point blank to move to let me pass to a vacant seat and almost tripped me up as I had to climb over them in the dark. Apparantly excuse me please is not in their vocabulary. Times readers? Give me the talking, seat kicking, nacho chomping, mobile using SKY/Virgin/SFF undesirable any day.

Re: Easy Money
Much better than I expected. Two walkouts, but they looked like they were finding the concept of reading subtitles just a little too much effort (which is pretty sad).

Re: Easy Money
I still don't know how I felt about this. It was long and that's all I can really say about it, even though the Lone Ranger yesterday was half an hour longer, I didn't notice it, but this I was painfully aware of. I liked the acting, and the score, but not sure about the story, and wondering what the (two!) sequels would entail. Apparently they are also making a Hollywood remake with Warner Bros starring Zac Efron. I think this is the one genre he hasn't tackled yet so we'll see how that goes.
