Hey guys

I'm not dead!

Well, now that you have slightly overcome that dissapointment (cos I really deserve to be, after abandoning my dear friends here), I want to deeply and humbly apologise for having some of you worrying. Certain events in my life had me focussing on helping my mother recover from a recent illnes (she's recovered now) and things took a plunge at work too. My mood was down and I thought I did not want to share that with you guys here at the time (kinda selfish, I know). On one hand I know its adviseable to talk to friends of one's mental hardship but I tend to get solitary about these things and deal with whatever obstacles myself. Thing is this was about 6-7 weeks ago I think, and I picked myself up workwise and healthwise (mother had recovered and annoyingly is back to thinking that she is super woman again, lifting sofas around for god knows why). But it is pure laziness and unthoughtfullness that I did not come back here earlier.

But throughout the good times and bad times, I maintained one thing as best I could. I still tried to eat healthily and exercise whenever I can grab an opportunity. It appears now that I have lost 20kg/44lbs/3 stones since I started in November. There is much to tell you on how I reached that and resources that I hope will be useful for you guys.

But first, WOW Annej, brilliant stuff - huge congrats on reaching the 2 stone loss mark. You're truly in the zone, keep it going! Go for the Body Combat class, as Valda says dont be afraid, you just kick and punch the air but you will be kicked and punched by the instructor and yeah that can really hurt a bit...ok just kidding. Its 100% no impact ;) Also, if there is anything I have learnt from my weight loss track is that we will always come to a plateau (ie a period of time where we dont seem to lose weight) and the way to break that plateau is to SHOCK the body system every 4-6 weeks. That includes changing your diet. Changing your gym program. And trying a different class like your Body Combat. I also noticed you were surprised that Body Pump class used weights. Weights are such an essential element to burning fat. I know it sounds surprising but think about it, you need to feed your muscles to power through your workouts and thus this raises your fat burning metabolism. So keep up with that class too!

Diane, Valda, Allsinging, Jmd, and Anakin, its fantasitic to see you girls encouraging each other and giving each other incentive!

Allsinging, well done for getting back into the gym, how's your program? Remember to keep changing it and dont shy away from the weights. As I mentioned to AnneJ we all need the weights to compliment our fatburning cardio...its absolutely essential.

Valda, I can detect the energy levels soaring high with you, good stuff with doing those classes, sounds like you really enjoying them.

Well it feels great to be posting here with you girls, I'm so stupid for for not giving myself this pleasure for some time now :)

Welcome back Mr Motivator, I didn't think you were dead ;)
Glad that your mum is getting better, moving furniture is always a good sign and that the work situation has got better. You have nothing to apologise for everyone deals with stress in their own way, I think girls tend to talk more so than men about feelings etc (I know I do - I must drive everyone mad). But we are all here if you need us - you are always there for us!
Well done on your weight loss that is brilliant you must be so pleased.

Jmd1983 Rittersport bars are irresistable so it doesn't count!!

Mmmm Rittersport bars...now come come, discpline yourselves girls....mmmm Rittersport, plain chocolate....

I think the most important thing is if you have to have a devilish snack, go for the one that has the least Saturate Fat as possible. Other fats are actually good for you in moderation such as nuts. In fact, I recommend that you change take your eyes off that Rittersport Bar and gaze at the mix nuts packet...ok it takes effort, but walnuts, pistacchio are really nice to eat and you can eat them with the knowledge that they are healthy and rich in omega...just dont eat too much.

Thanks Diane, I am pleased. My performance in cricket and badminton has been greatly improved as a result. Workwise is up and down but thats the challenge and "fun" of sole trading isnt it? ;)

But I also have one more thing to say, I've entered myself into the Great North Run which is a half marathon up in Newcastle, Gateshead. Going to run for Asthma UK because I actually suffer from asthma myself but thankfully its mild. Really excited to do this as I have never done such a thing before. The marathon is a long time from now September 20th, so I think I am well ahead of schedule in training because I can run 5km on a treadmill in 30mins and I jog outdoor non stop for 3.4km in 24mins on the roads while going to work or college. Some of my fellow cricketers who are pro runners pursuaded me to do this, noticing how serious I am with my fitness and weightloss.

Well I made up for it by having a chicken (no mayo) sandwich in the cinema and an Innocent smoothie rather than popcorn and coke!

You're doing great MrGlass, really impressive!

Welcome back Mr Glass, thanks for the good advice, I will definitely keep trying new things to see what works, last night I did Aqua Aerobics for the first time, I really enjoyed it, I think it will be good for toning my arms and legs.

Congratulations on the 3 stone, thats amazing :D

Oh thanks Valda, thats really kind of you! Actually, I've yet to set up my sponsorship page on the Asthma UK charity website that I will be running for. I'll do it over the weekend as I think takes a little time, then perhaps I will include the link in my signature? I chose this charity becuase I myself suffer from Asthma but thankfully its mild. But I did use to suffer it badly when I was much younger and thanks to medical treatment programs it had improved drastically and now here I am embarking on running a half marathon which would never have been possible for me back then!

:thanks:

Interesting class, I was just reading up on what Aqua Aerobics is, and yep, you can expect results in toning your body. The water acts as a resistance, as if you are using dumb bells in land arobics. Its also considered the safest type of class because you dont experience hard impact on your body as you do on land exercises. What it does not do for you is fat burn...at least not so much. Here's a nice, simple to read, article on it

http://www.safewatersports.co.uk/AquaAerobics.html

This coupled with a cardio type class sounds like a great combo!

Good stuff AnneJ o/
