Re: Frances Ha
And silent. Why was this film not silent?
Re: Frances Ha
oddly, frankinweenie did work with b&w 3d, because it was itself p*ying homage to old 3d b&w horror movies.
3d is not my cup of tea, because as I have not got 20/20 vision, the effect is largely lost on me (unless the desired effect is a dark blur, then I am seeing it ok)
edit: it's not p*ying homage to any silent films.

Re: Frances Ha
Some bits were silent and you can approximate 3D if you alternately open and close your eyes really fast, I'm not sure any of you were watching this movie properly.

Re: Frances Ha
Had heard nothing of this film prior to viewing so had no expectations. Somehow kept me captivated, wondering what direction it was going to take, but it was a little overlong and ultimately unconcluded. I think it should have ended where Frances and her friend were in bed and said they loved each other. And I thought the black and white worked very well for this kind of film. Some lovely cinematography and beautiful shots that wouldn't've have been done justice in colour.

Re: Frances Ha
I had a choice between Frances and the Lone Ranger. Glad I picked Frances. Refreshing not to sit through the usual Hollywood formula and to appreciate an off beat/quirky movie

Oof - what a pasting. I bet if I'd have sat next to you in the cinema I'd have been freaked out by the sound of grinding teeth.EthanRunt wrote:I think I was fair with my assessment on this film: http://reviews.boxofficebuz.com/review/ ... vie-review
I totally disagree with you on the black and white being ugly though, every screen capture you use in that article looks fantastic.
