Oh boy, Easter is coming, embrace ourselves guys, be strong...! Do not unwrap that cadbury creme egg...as if you could, I know everytime I've had a creme egg, I consumed it with 5% of foil wrapper, could never get that damn thing off 100%.

Ok, I feel like sharing a few tips with everyone here...feels like a blog but I dont have one, so here goes.

One tip on healthy eating whilst losing the fat is to eat your low calorie deficit for 6 days of the week. Then on the 7th day, eat what you like in moderation. This is a big big secret to losing the body fat and breaking the plateau if you happen to reach that point. You see for 6 days, your low calorie intake obviously loses the fat but this can be undone if the body thinks there is a shortage of food and goes into starvation mode whereupon it tries to retain the fat. But it does takes a while for the body to come to this conclusion though, so before it does we have the high calorie day! Still eat healthily but let your mind relax and eat what you desire without thinking about calories but still try to avoid too much trashy food.

So time this high calorie day with Easter Sunday or Monday ;)

I say all this with confidence because I am now seriously deluded enough to think I qualified! No actually, I hired a personal trainer for one week, several weeks ago. I did so because I was mentally down for reasons I mentioned before, and had also reached a plateua where my weight seems to be stuck. I needed help. Personal Trainers cost money I know. But boy are they justified and frankly great value. This PT set out a full 7 day diet plan, and a workout program consisting of 4 sessions a week. Not only did this guy enable me to break my plateau, I lost 3lbs a week on average! If I had any questions or concerns, and trust me, I always have many, he woould happily email back with the answers and the reasons for eating this and that etc. This cost £120 for 4 sessions all in one week (thats actually great value at £30 per session). Its agreat investment that I would recommend anyone. What is shocking to me is that the normal gym staff who I normally used to create my workout programs know next to nothing compared to a PT and worse, give you the absolute worse type of program. Once you have had your week PT, its a springboard for the next 2 months of rapid weight loss. You may not need a PT again thereafter if you are confident you can change programs and diet yourself but I reckon hire them again every 2 months or so is well worth the investment until you reach your goal, and by then you will have learnt so much that you can maintain your weight and lifestyle for life. Thats what I hope, personally.

When going for a PT, make sure they are listed in the National Register http://www.nrpt.co.uk. Ensure they have at least level 3 certification and that they are also on the Register for Exercise Professionals. Many PTs dont have this and I would be inclined not to go for them unless they are very cheap but if they are cheap it will be for a reason. Obviously go for one that is local, by typing the post code into the search box of the www.nrpt.co.uk website. Or check the list at your local gym, then check their credentials on www.nrpt.co.uk. Write an email to maybe 3 or 4 PTs and tell them your status, what you aim to achieve, what is their approach and ensure they can help you with both a healthy diet program and a workout program that you can then do yourself for the next 2 months and ensure they are available during this time to seek advise or eliminate uncertainties in your diet/program. Then analyse their replies and see who presents themselves the best and then get a free consultation.

But if you dont go for a PT, I'll keep posting here all the secrets that I learn bit by bit :)

No real weight loss goal at the moment. More a get up off my lazy ass and just move a bit goal ;-).
Lol, that's a goal alright! But more of an intermediate goal ;) Try think of a longer term goal to really motivate you and think of it every day :)

Your ideal weight would be between 10-11 stones. Lets make your long term target 10.5 stones (66.8kg). Say you lose 0.5kg a week, so in just 24 weeks, you'll be at your ideal weight :)

1/2 hour session of Wii Fit, 3 times a week
Plus a 1/2 hour brisk walk 1 hour after dinner, twice a week...wait, no, how about 1/2 hour brisk walk BEFORE dinner. Ideally, eat straight after a workout and never do exercise straight after eating! Sound ok to you?

When you workout, put everything into it. Feel some pain!! Get your heart pumping a bit. You already allocated the time so make the most of it!

And drink at least 2 litres of water daily. To be honest, I drink a lot of water only when I am working out, but I find it hard to do so other times in the day but I do try. However, tea is considered a good substitute and I do drink about 2-3 cups of that a day, I love tea :) But try drink the water too.

So great start JMD! shop healthy from today and you know what, you can be bold and throw away the rubbish you already have or give away!

Our house is empty of food at the moment so not much rubbish there! :-)

Only problem with a walk before dinner is that I don't get home until 7.30pm. If I walk first, then cook and eat, I won't eat until at least 9pm. And that's a bit late because I tend to be in bed quite early.

I drink lots of water and herbal tea throughout the day so yay, I'm doing one of these things already! Go me! ;-)

The good thing is that we are moving soon so we are packing boxes and carrying them to the car about once a week. It can substitute one of my Wii Fit sessions if necessary!

Oh thats fair enough, JMD, but perhaps since you go bed early, you can get up that tad bit earlier and do the walk first thing in the morning, in fact do it as part of your journey to work! But make sure you get enough sleep, ie 7-8 hours. Your original plan is a great start, I'm just thinking of ways you can push that further by maximising the effectivness of your workouts without costing you much extra time. There's always a way, you know, even if its not so apparant at the start ;-)

Oh I do appreciate the input and ideas! Absolutely! And it's motivating to know other people struggled with the same things.

Haha getting up earlier is soooo not going to work. I could say that I would do it, but I know myself and I know how much I like my bed in the mornings.

So I think I will just have to walk after dinner. Maybe before on Fridays or Saturdays when I go to bed later. Do the Wii Fit before dinner while dinner is in the oven....

I won’t put my weight (its too much!! ), but so far I’ve lost 2 stone and 3 lbs, I would like to lose another 2 stone before my holiday on the 14th July. It gives me 16 weeks, so hopefully it’s long enough. I’m following a healthy diet and exercising at least 3 times a week, I feel very motivated at the moment, I’m hoping this doesn’t dwindle before I reach my target. This forum definitely helps keep me on track, thanks everyone.
I usually have one treat a week so that I have something to look forward to (although if it’s a bad week it’s more than 1!). I’m definitely planning my treat day for Easter Sunday, I love crème eggs. o/

We wont let you dwindle ;-)

Great stuff, AnneJ, keep it up, and that's cool planning.

Yeah, none of you need to give your current weight, the key is monitoring progression towards your target every two weeks :)

Here goes I'm 1.67m and weigh 72kg, my waist is 29.5inches and look like I have a lot of body fat (no idea how much). I have been rubbish of late with occasional walks and good eating but need to get my act together, my idea was to lose 6kg by easter but as its less than 2 weeks away that's not going to happen.
I have just been shopping and only b*ght healthy food so my aim is to eat healthier, move my body a lot more and start drinking water (I keep on drinking black coffee but that dehydrates you and I convince myself that I'm hungry but perhaps I'm thirsty).
Everyone else seems to be really motivated and doing well which is brilliant and I will try not to let you all down.

Alright Diane, I've worked out your ideal weight. Setting you a target of losing 2 stones by 5th OCtober at a rate of 1lb per week. Sound ok to you? So your intermediate target is 2lbs every fortnight. If you want to increase that rate, I have suggestions:

You're a pro and experienced walker, so I'm betting highly that your body has been well adapted to it. So to start losing lbs, give a shock to the system by doing 2-3min bursts of very brisk walking, then slow to normal walk for 10mins, then another burst of 2-3 brisk walk. If you up to it, do a short easy jog too, to mix things up a bit. Play around with your timing and try push yourself and give your body the shock it needs. Then compliment that with another favourite physical activitiy if you can. Great start with the healthy shopping! Lower that calorie deficit, not too much, up to 500kcal per day, then give yourself the 1 comfort day as everyone seems to be calling it!

So that's 4 entries so far on the sheet. You watch girls, y'all gonna rock this thread! Oh and me too, I hope :)

I haven't been 9 stones 4lbs since I was about 25 8O , I was aiming for 10 stones 4lbs but you are probably right 2 stones lighter would be even healthier so I'm up for it. I used to always go to the Gym but as I now work 5 1/2 days a week its difficult to fit it in but I can do workouts at home so no excuses allowed.
I'm going for a scan later so will know how far I can push my dodgy heart lol
