Speaking of laughter, by far the biggest laugh for everyone in the cinema on the night was the ridiculous laugh a girl in the audience had. Reminded me a lot of this scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td4LD2aXB4I

Here's my review. Loved the film to bits - a very sticky subject to tackle, yet Gordon-Levitt pulls through with gusto. It's a hard film for much of its run time, so I didn't mind when it got a little gooey near the climax.

Shock / Horror !

People masturbate to porn !

Is anyone really shocked / surprised by this anymore ? (other than JGL)

Our screening was full of lads, many of whom I'd never seen at any other screening. They talked, laughed & chatted on their mobiles throughout the film.

Interestingly, the house lights were not dimmed too much (I wonder why? lol).

Having loved JGL since 3rd Rock From the Sun and knowing what the subject matter was for this film, I must admit to liking his project.

The acting was good and there was no shocking news/revelation but it did what it set out to do without going OTT. o/

Well that's not really the point of the film is it? Don Jon is interested in why people crave porn so much, how a steady diet of porn can subtly change you and the wider pornographising of culture..

There was a message somewhere in the movie. The main characters were very one dimensional

If you watch interviews with JGL that's kind of the point.

Is the point that the story wouldn't have worked if the characters had normal dimensions?

Can't decide with this movie if I can recommend it or not. As it wasn't a bad movie just not something people would...you know, watch in a cinema on a date or with friends?
