Finally saw this on Saturday and I quite enjoyed it, I was surprised by how much I liked the pre journey sequences (which came across as quite tacky in the trailer) and that the journey itself wasn't quite as involving as I was expecting it to be.

Thought the final twenty or so minutes dragged a little bit but overall this was a well directed comedic drama that did enough to get a 7/10 from me...

Did originally think to myself to hand it a solid 9/10, however, I did find a few problems with it.
From Cinnabon to Papa John's, 'The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty' contains a frustratingly large amount of product placement than is actually necessary. Apart from that, it is visually stunning, has well developed characters and and inspiring message to all. I did think, however, the dream state could have possibly been elaborated further.

Overall, although on InstaGram ( I gave it 4/5, thinking about it now, it doesn't quite get an 8, but is higher than a 7, so roughly 7 1/2 /10

wasted as a comedy

wanting as a scenic movie

weak story

would have been ok as a tv movie (with budgeting of course) but to part with £8, no way.
overall, not good. in retrospect I actually am beginning to hate on it for wasting so much on so little. Ben Stiller is back on my neversee list.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

We really enjoyed the movie, Ben Stiller was the perfect actor for this role. I would highly recommend this film. Its quite funny when he zones out and all these fantasies happen that seem so real.

While Stiller does a fantastic job of bringing the story to screen, it is the script that is lacking. The direction gives life to the ludicrous events (both real and imagined) but the dialogue and characters fail to produce much in the way of emotion. It looks great and has a decent soundtrack but the substance is paper thin. It trots out the occasional laugh but piles on far more in the way of grating product placement. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a feel good but ultimately frustrating experience.

I have not seen the original but I liked this film it gives an example of an adventurous spirit trapped in a working mans body.
