I was expecting an action-packed movie with perhaps not too ambitious of a script but suspense, story, one-liners. An easy, fun movie. What I got was bored. Bad dialogue, predictable story and action sequences lacking that "something" made for a mediocre film for me that couldn't be saved by Chris Pine looking very good in blue.

5/10

Beate summed it up when she said at the finish that she liked the film so guessed that I must have thought it was pretty awful!

How do these people manage to drive at speed around cities they have never before visited and get to where they want to be when I find it difficult to drive around places I know? Lovely to see so many FMUKers at Islington and we finally managed to get SunnySaver and hdaniel82 out again.

Exactly, for someone who'd never been to Moscow, he knew his way around.

I liked his comment that he worked in compliance, so he did everything alone ;).

6/10 Taxing it wasn't, disjointed certainly. I was frequently distracted by Keira Knightley's teeth - was she wearing pink fang prosthetics ? Seriously. Redeemed by Sinbad cameo but all over the place generally; wasn't Chris Pine meant to be a young Harrison Ford and if so why the contemporary post 9/11 setting ? Someone smart, explain !

Thought this was a derivative, cliched and run-of-the-mill action movie which seems to have traded political espionage with CSI-like tomfoolery.
It felt more like a Bourne/Mission:Impossible reboot lacking entirely in originality or intelligence.
It was however, in its favour, extremely fast-paced, energetic and certainly not boring in the least.
Kenneth Branagh is far more competent a director than he is a Russian villain, that's for sure.

PS. Was Keira Knightley trying to do an American accent? I couldn't tell...

The Q & A itself was wonderfully informative. Branagh's a great speaker. Eloquent, well-composed, and just plain engaging. A true gentleman.
I wonder what he thought of the mostly elderly turn-out at the event?

Some pics I snapped:

I saw this yesterday in Acton/Park Royal and really enjoyed it, would give it 7/10. It was fast paced and Chris Pine and Keira Knightley did a good job. Kenneth Branagh's russian accent was a bit dodgy, although he is a good director.
