Neither Pine nor Branagh were the problems. The recycled script was the issue.
The direction was as about as slick as it could've been given the poor material.

Jayman wrote:Thought this was a derivative, cliched and run-of-the-mill action movie which seems to have traded political espionage with CSI-like tomfoolery.
It felt more like a Bourne/Mission:Impossible reboot lacking entirely in originality or intelligence.
It was however, in its favour, extremely fast-paced, energetic and certainly not boring in the least.
Kenneth Branagh is far more competent a director than he is a Russian villain, that's for sure.

PS. Was Keira Knightley trying to do an American accent? I couldn't tell...

The Q & A itself was wonderfully informative. Branagh's a great speaker. Eloquent, well-composed, and just plain engaging. A true gentleman.
I wonder what he thought of the mostly elderly turn-out at the event?

Went to see this with high expectations and quite frankly, its the worst film ive seen in years(bar Twilight).
The beginning was incredibly slow going, and I felt the relationship between the two main characters overshadowed the rest of the story.
The end scenes were very predictable too.

2/10?

I liked it, granted not as good or as complex as the Bourne movies. but not a bad effort. 6/10

Went to see this yesterday and found watching it to be a relatively positive experience.

However I didn't think there was much in the way of chemistry between Pine & Knightley and the story seemed much smaller in scope than the previous Jack Ryan flick.

Have to say that I much preferred Affleck in the role of a younger Jack Ryan and the biggest impact this film had on me was that it left me with a strong desire to revisit 'The Sum Of All Fears'.

That said, it was still a reasonably entertaining (albeit generic) thriller so although I'm not in a hurry to see it again I think it did enough to get a 7/10 from me...

Finally getting chance to review this.

Thought this was a great film, action packed, easy to watch and I got caught up in the whole story line (no matter how far fetched it got!)
Chris Pine and Kevin Costner made it even easier to watch!

Not always a fan of Keira Knightley but warmed to her in this movie.

An all round entertaining couple of hours.

8/10 from me.

Watched this over the weekend and wasn't impressed at all. Not a great script. 5/10
