Muppets: Most Wanted
Re: Muppets: Most Wanted
Daughter and I went to Cineworld, Wood Green in North London who were disorganised at the start as one person said we needed to get paper tickets and then another said that was nonsense. They rarely have free preview screenings so I guess it was all pretty new to the staff.
We enjoyed the film. I particularly liked the "I really need this job" number from Chorus Line in the Gulag -- who could have dreamed that up!

It was a bit mad all them people turning up at 11:00 Missed you once again - you're turning out to be quite elusive.mathew1971 wrote:Pretty average offering to be honest even the kids were a bit bored 5/10 - didn't help at Didsbury due to movie short starting with no sound and then restarted 3/4 minutes later plus the subtitles and text on the main feature being halfway off the screen - pretty useless at Cineworld.
Also had the ususal dozen or so people who cant be bothered to arrive on time and the new annoyance of lots of people using their smartphones which creates an annoying glow which as hard as you try catches your eye all the time. One set of parents were using their phones pretty much the whole movie??
Time that the staff started to refuse entry for latecomers to these screenings and also enforced no use of mobiles when the movie starts.
Rant over

OH has to go alone as I had rehearsals all day today and my nephew was not well. He said Edinburgh only 70% full. Film was OK. Songs again by Brett McKenzie and he said they were clever (too much so for most of the kids). He said film OK but not as good, clever or fun as the last one.

My bf and I saw this today at Cineworld Wood Green. We had low expectations so we were pleasantly surprised with the film. We even enjoyed it more than the previous one. I don't know whether the children were enjoying it that much, though. We were definitely laughing more than the kids. 7.5/10
The monsters inc. short film at the start was great too. I love the mum. \m/

Wembley was also only about 75% full and would say 25% of those turned up after the film had started.
We had lots of very young children who were quite noisy and messy, I don't think I have ever seen more popcorn on the floor then what we walked through to leave today, it was really bad.
Forgot to mention the short before, it was very good, I would be that mum too!

I think I agree with pcRock!
I think a lot of the jokes and songs in the new film are lost on children

A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"
A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Re: Muppets: Most Wanted
I thought this was excellent, silly, anarchic and knowing - really capturing the spirit of the Muppets.
Ricky Gervais was pretty good and I thought Celine Dion was the perfect fit for her cameo, but the best cameos had to be the Gulag song and dance group, best Boyz to Men cover ever.
I was a bit wary after some lacklustre reviews and whilst it probably doesn't reach the heights of the previous film overall I found it great fun. 8/10

Here is a piece I wrote about how Disney don't know what to do with The Muppets franchise:

Re: Muppets: Most Wanted
The Saturday morning showing at the PCC was another fab event run by denofgeek. They always do something different, and this one started off with a singalong to get us in the mood, then an intro from Kermit, himself! And then a really funny Monsters University short. What a lovely treat.
Finally, the film. We laughed all the way through this manic, chaotic, Muppets mayhem, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was silly and a lot of fun, which is what Muppets are about. The cameos looked liked they were really enjoying themselves. A lot of familiar faces in the Gulag and loved them doing the group songs. Tina Fey was very good and so was Ty Burrell. Not a fan of Ricky Gervais, he always seem a bit dull to me, but he did make me laugh with his silly monkey dance.
Still hate the seats at PCC, so hard and uncomfortable.

Re: Muppets: Most Wanted
I've never been the biggest fan of the Muppets but I thoroughly enjoyed this, particularly the scenes in the gulag. Some of the cameos were a bit pointless and it lacked some of the message and heart of the previous films, but I was won over by the songs, the humour, and the cameos that did work (for example Celine Dion and Stanley Tucci).
