Great stuff, Anjirose, and you've proven that all thats needed is common sense and a little thought into what you eat. 99% Special diets, will make you lose weight but only short term...afterwards the fat goes back on with a vengeance. You've adopted healthy sensible eating from the start, that you can maintain comfrotably for life and you will lose weight and get fitter when you add exercises. You can speed up weight loss with special tricks (whilst maintaining that core healthy balanced diet) but if you are patient enough, you will get there with the track you are on. Well done, keep it going!

When you reach a point where you dont seem to be losing any more weight, (called a plateua), thats the point where you change your diet and your exercise to give your a body a new challenge ;)

Oh I didnt relaise it was 7lbs in one week! Thats great! I too lost something like that at the beginning of my weight loss but dont expect to lose at that rate from here on! Its usual for the lbs to come off quickly at the beginning (much of it is water, not just fat) but keep up with what you doing and expect to lose around 2-3lbs a week if you stay disciplined :) Let us know how get on now and again!

My pedometer and walking pack arrived today thanks to Bevvy, will wear it tomorrow on a non exercise day to see how much or little I do walk but will try to get it up to the 10,000.

Wore mine all day yesterday and am wearing it today. Doing my normal routine for a few days first to see how many steps I get to and then try to up it a bit every week or so.

I did 6000 steps on Wednesday but I don't know what happened yesterday as I walked at lunchtime and then did a walk after work but it only registered 138 steps all day I was so naffed off :evil:
I haven't put it on today as I was annoyed with it but will try again tomorrow.
Hows everyone else getting on?

I have used mine and it seems to be ok. Shocked by how low my step count is though! Was reading up on it and I don't really come close to the 10000 steps per day.

Those pedometers sound like a good incentive item. But they cant measure intensity. Dont forget to walk briskly, girls! Make short bursts of wlaking fast, or even running.

Wednesday is our next progress marker ;)

I think I've come to a plateau myself or at least my rate of losing weight has dropped (which I expected as I have been doing a same program for nearly 8 weeks so body is gettingg used to it). So on a new program since last week. Also a new eating plan. Basically, I hired a personal trainer for a second time to create my program, give me an eating plan, and show me how to maximise techniques on gym workout exercises/weights). First time he gave me an eating plan of eating 6 days balanced protein/carbs/fat (using a 1000 calorie deficit to my maintenance level) and 7th day eat what I like (high calorie day to fool body into not switching on starvation mode). This time, 2nd phase, he has changed my eating plan to a similar structure in terms of calorie deficit and 7th day high calories. But with a major difference. 3 days I eat no complex carbs (such as rice, wholemeal bread, pasta, potatoes etc). I can eat as much simple carbs as I feel (such as broccoli, salad and other green veg), 4th day I eat the carbs. 5th day and 6th day back to no complex carbs. 7th day eat whatever. Logic, 1: give a shock to system to get body to burn fat again, 2, no carbs, mean body has no other choice but to burn fat fuel, since no carb fuel to burn. Of course, cant keep that going for too long, its just to raise the fat burning metabolism again.

If anyone is interested in what my eating plans and exercise in detail are, pm me and I'll email to you. These program/plans really worked for me and have lost average 3lbs a week. Of we're all different but you can at least get concept ideas from my programs.

Today is the start of my cricket season and was really looking forward to unleash my new found speed and agility on the cricket field and surprise my team mates...but aaargh I wake up this morning with a bloody archilles heel injury :( upset now! Still, I'll go limp to the game and watch and maybe enjoy the sun. Hope it heals up by next Sunday. Means I obviously cant do any running for a while.
