The goody bag had a copy of Empire mag (the same one as we got at the Mountain Dew Green Screen) a small bag of sweets and a bag of low cal chocolate popcorn. I think that was all.

It was ok. OH enjoyed watching All is Lost, he started watching on the plane when on hols, but fell asleep. I started watching Gravity, but couldn't get into it, so watched We're the Millers again.

Snack wise, there were crisps, popcorn, gummy sweets, almonds, m&Ms, Revels and had a voucher for drinks. When we left we were told we could stay in the bar for soft drinks and were given another one for alcohol, as they said it was so quiet.

OH took one packet of crisps. I said it was embarrassing that that was all he took.

We were given a goody bag as we left, same contents as Jeanelle's.

The phones4u staff were very friendly and helpful.

I didn't see any goody bags! I did swipe some chocolate though, so made my own goody bag. ;)

Finally saw The Avengers. o/ I am watching all of those films in the wrong order... I watch Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. so was curious as to the back story.

Really great pop up. Many thanks to elski for the original spot and to pxc for reminding me to go. o/

They gave us the bags on the way out. They weren't on display.

I did come late, so maybe they had run out by then. The Avengers is a long film. Still glad I went, I'd forgotten how much I like that hotel. o/

Yes, lovely hotel. Glad you all managed to go, and Sunny Saver's OH enjoyed All is Lost. It is a pleasant way to while away a couple of hours, and catch a film, you missed. If I had time today, would have gone back to see Carrie, as I missed it on the list, although ritamistry, her OH and my friend all said it was there, and what my friend watched! They were all sitting behind me, so I did not see what they were watching. ;)

Went to the Open City Docs Fest - London's Global Documentary Festival, last Saturday afternoon, at the Bloomsbury Theatre, thanks to elski. The theatre is huge, totally unexpected, and really comfy seats.

Saw two films, one a short.

I enjoyed the short film more, An All-Encompassing Light - a very well filmed personal account by a survivor of the Hiroshima bomb, a really touching and interesting story. 9/10

The second film was very slow, but nevertheless, shocking and thought provoking eco documentary "Ecoside - Voices from Paradise" - how the oil spill from BP affected a community, with illnesses even 2 years down the line, and the cover up by BP. After which there was a Q&A with the director, Juliet Brown, who also ended up quite unwell doing the filming there. Ecoside, as opposed to genocide, is "Crimes against Nature are Crimes against Peace and Humanity." We were asked to sign a petition "Vote to protect our natural home" if interested: http://www.endecocide.eu/

Went to the Hospital Club last night, to watch the live screening of Manon Lescaut at the Royal Opera House.

Talk about last minute. Busy all day at work and did not see that I had an email of a comp win until about 5pm, so rang up the organisers, gave my details and plus one for the guest list and rush off to get there on time!

Well the promised canapes in the comp or the nibbles as mentioned by the Hospital Club organiser when I spoke to her (just make sure you are there by 6.15pm as there will be nibbles and drinks before the screening starts), turns out to be one teeny weeny bowl of crisp and one tweeny weeny bowl of olives, and a teeny weeny bowl of wasabi peas (you get the picture) for four pairs of people who won the comp. There were some really decent white wine though, but only two bottles! Six bottles of beers and a couple of bottles of water.

But the Hospital Club screening room is great, real comfy seats, sit on the front row and stretch your legs and it is like having the place to yourself.

The live screening of operas are a great idea by the Royal Opera House, as before it starts and during the intervals, you get some great interviews and insights into the opera.

Love Puccini, so was really looking forward to seeing Manon Lescaut. This production was very modern, very hot (think Lady Gaga (not that she is sexy for me but just imagine the clothes!) writhing on a bed or laying any where there is to lie down on the stage!) and the music is "wondrous" to quote the Director of Music who conducted the opera of a young girl tempted by money or love. The performances by the leads, Kristine Opolais and Jonas Kaufmann is absolutely marvellous. Those voices and having to act and sing lying down. All done live. Incredible. 9/10
