Just watched "The Escapist" with brian cox and Joesph Fiennes.

An English "Prison Break" with some good british actors.

V V Good with some top acting, good twists and flashbacks incorporated to build up the tension.

well worth a watch

9/10

Watched "Son of Rambow" last night as well.

I was quite suprised by how much I liked it. Quite funny and well acted by the two boys who played the main characters.

Good original storyline for a change as well.

Great to see the wonderful REX Cinema in Berkhamsted (which is an awesome old fashioned Art Deco Cinema and well worth a visit) appearing in it.

7/10

Chasing Amy - 8/10

Ben Affleck is a comic-book writer who falls for a girl - then finds out she's a lesbian.
Sounds juvenile? It's not... not in the slightest. Chasing Amy is a richly intelligent, mature film which is bizarre, given that it's a Kevin Smith flick. But questions are presented that no sane person would be brave enough to ask. You will find this film uncomfortable as it strips down your preconceived notions of gender, sexuality, identity and love - it's the true anti-rom-com - but, ultimately, it's richly rewarding. Not only is it a film of brains and guts, but heart too - as Affleck's character reveals, "I finally had something personal to say"

In fact, this is a film I'd be tempted to give full marks to, if it weren't for the fact that the scenes inevitably descend into long speeches due to the complicated subject matter. Which doesn't go well with Smith's, let's say, limited visual style - i.e. One camera. One angle. Scene. So maybe he's not the most skilled screenwriter/director in the world but he's arguably the funniest, and the jokes are all there. And of absolute certainty is that he has heart - here he exposes it to the world for all to see. And that's the guts. And that's the brains.

Just saw The Untouchables on Film 4. Haven't seen it for years but it caught my interest after seeing Public Enemies earlier in the week. I think it is much better than Public Enemies - you get a better understanding of characters, something that I found lacking from Public Enemies. A very good 8/10 from me and it just shows me how disappointing Public Enemies is.

The last film I saw was The International. The film was reasonable enough, but felt that it fell a bit flat at the end after it just started to get going with the real action.

Still enjoyed it, though.

Last night I watched the Belgian horror Calvaire. It's a simple story that develops into a genuinely disturbing, creepy piece of arthouse horror . The director was heavily influenced by films such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Misery, Psycho and Deliverance.

A must for horror fanatics!

Watched Black Water on sky last night. Watched it out of boredom and was expecting something similar to Lake Placid with big fake crocs everywhere. Was surprised to find it wasn't anything like that. It had some genuinely tense moments that had my GF watching behind her hands. 7/10

Get Smart- I expected an all-out silly comedy, but found that this James Bond spoof took itself too seriously, seemed too long and eventually I was just bored. Some bits were fun, but not enough, 4/10.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People- I actually really enjoyed this film- sure it contained some cliches but it kept me interested and entertained the whole way through, the characters were likeable (if OTT) and I didn't feel like I'd seen it all before. 7.5/10
