Runner runner

#1 Post by claire » Sat Sep 28, 2013 7:42 am

With justin timberlake and Ben affleck

I went to see this last night on last of my sky vouchers (thanks elski for the spares too o/)
Ok. The story. Could have been really good. But lacked something.
Not sure what ?! But film felt long and lazy.

Ben affleck was terrible. For half the movie I couldn't understand what he said ! Are we sure English is his first language?!! Didn't sound like it.
Can't believe he has gone from the amazing Argo to this crap

Such a waste of a voucher. I have seen worse. But this wasn't good either.

3/10 don't waste ur time.

This is mostly style over substance with lots of focus on exotic locations but not so much on the story. It never ventures beyond mediocre territory but at 91 minutes it doesn't overstay it's welcome. 5/10.

This was very poor.

The film took 2 rather charismatic actors & made them dull.

3/10

No twists, no turns, quite unexciting really. Timbo should stick to the music and Affleck needs to rewatch Argo and remind himself of a high point in his career. Noticed Leonardo di Caprio was one of the producers behind this. What was he thinking? 4/10

Well, this won out over Diana. I just couldn't face that and spending an evening in the company of Messrs Timberlake and Affleck is not a bad choice.

I liked the start and I felt they could have done more with the "brains" side of the story.

I was interested in the sports betting and gambling out of Costa Rica, a country I previously only thought of for eco-tourism and never having had a civil war!

Anyway, it didn't test my wee brain too much on a Sunday night and it bounced along in the right direction.

6/10 from me.

Saw this earlier today and thought it was entertaining enough (albeit in a rather forgettable way).

My biggest problem with this movie was that there wasn't really much more to it than I'd already seen in the trailer consequently I felt like I was watching it for the second time rather than the first.

But despite the above, I think there are definitely worse ways to spend ninety or so minutes therefore I'm willing to give it a 6/10...

Caught this tonight as part of my 4 movie marathon today. Wasn't as bad as I was expecting from previous reviews. Felt that the trailer was better though. It was rather flat and pedestrian although I did enjoy the final couple of twists, but even the final comeuppence was a bit meh - whatever! - from the person getting caught.

To me this felt more like an episode of a TV show or at best a TV movie. No way would I say it was worth the £9.10 that I didn't p*y.

I'm going for a 6/10. Not bad.

Watched this on Friday evening at the Superscreen. Cheekily sat up in the balcony for the first time ever. The usher said we shouldn't have, but because there were only 3 other people up there he let us stay - decent view. I can see why it's popular, especially with the tables too. I might try for that again for future screenings.

That's all. Oh wait, I forgot to talk about the film....

wow this movie was a bit pants wasn't it? flashy lines that meant nothing when you think about them but sound good for maybe five seconds, coupled with a lifestyle you can never have flaunted at you every passing moment and bound together by an impossible plot (a penniless student goes abroad to solve his money problems YEAH RITE like that would ever happen). What fcuking idiot wrote this plot. Avoid this persons films in future. The dialogue alone is cringeworthy enough.

That's said, there are some gorgeous locations to look at and I suppose movies are supposed to deal with the incredulous, which includes the stuff we cant afford to see AND the plot that is incredible AND the cast who talk gibberish, so in that respect it might satisfy you, other than that its for the flash gits who think the world is their oyster. Fortunately its not too long, so its a pretty postcard for 90 minutes at the very least.

nothing like the Modern Marlowe that it so wants to be. So many scenes that were intended to show us what a slick guy Timberlake was but they just made him look like he was the one eyed guy ruling a kingdom of the blind.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Watched earlier this week, average (5/10). A waste of talent. More substance required please!
