The Guest
Re: The Guest
I know I'm going against the tide but it's 9/10 for me. I'm with LondonCityNights I absolutely LOVED this. It was awesome fun and if you like B movies you're in for a real treat. Can't wait to watch it again!
Re: The Guest
Starts out looking like a psychological drama, but rapidly degenerates into a schlock horror shoot 'em up spoof gorefest.
With grainy texture, primary palette, and intrusive incidental music, It's clearly influenced by late 80's / early 90's low-budget thrillers: 'Maniac Cop 2' perhaps. Unlike that film, with its classic final line, the humour here is leaden, and the overall experience unedifying and unsatisfactory.

Saw this again last night down with the students. They laughed and they laughed and they laughed! Found myself laughing along with them, but I definitely enjoyed it more when I took it more seriously the first time around.
As long as you understand that it is a B movie genre (and hopefully purposely so!) then you will be more likely to enjoy.

Was this so bad it is good?
For a thriller it wasn't very thrilling, yet it was very funny.
The start there was true potential for me sitting on the edge of the seat. Yet as the film progressed I felt I was watching the next 'Scarey Movie', plot went from ok to silly. Dan Stevens eyes, although beautiful, got a little tiresome.
An average film. Rating: wait till its on the tele, but even then don't rush home.

Re: The Guest
Was an ok film but disappointed by the ending.
Looks like its been left open for the possibility of a sequel!

Re: The Guest
Saw this today using a voucher which was due to expire. Last minute choice of film picked really because of time of screening. I thought it started out quite good and hoped it was going to develop . . . it did then became silly! . . . and I just didn't get the reason for the final scene unless it is to suggest another film.
It was an ok film to watch using a voucher so 6/10.

Re: The Guest
Saw this at Frightfest and I loved it. Tongue in cheek, I found myself laughing while I rolled my eyes. Especially loved the silly bathroom scene. 8/10
