Now I've had enough sleep I can answer properly - sleep deprivation plays havoc with your body and puts you at risk of diabetes and heart disease etc due to constant raised levels of cortisol in the body - Liquorice is causing my cortisol levels to rise on a daily basis as he keeps on getting up in the night :wall:

I'm a little sad though that I have to use the adjective "young" when talking about other people - I used to be young myself not so long ago!

The scales were surprisingly kind this morning, just goes to show when you eyeball food you really have no idea how much you're eating. Two of my friends are WW success stories and they still weigh everything - that's a step too far for me.

Right, today I'm going to sack off the last minute review request because frankly, I deserve a break. But I'm going to make some time for a run. I can't remember if I mentioned it or not, but I'm doing another 5k next month and I need to get some training in. o/

PS There should definitely be pictures in circulation of Liquorice. Cats definitely own their humans, but despite the arrogance, I really adore them. :D

Down to 201.5lbs now so almost obliterated the "holiday weight"!

Just goes to show how easy it is to put it on, given that I was only away for five days!

Been a bit of a nightmare as I've started in a new office, 50 miles away from my old one and I've been contending with sniffles that have been threatening to develop into full on manflu! :D

Hope everyone else is getting on well!

Hi folks,,

I hope everyone is keeping well. I haven't been on for a couple of months - oops. I've not lost much weight in the last while. I'm 13st 9lbs at the moment. I may have been about 14st when I last logged in. I've lost 4st in just over a couple of years and I'm now I just need to lose 6 - 9lbs and I'll be happy but it just is not coming off at all.

I eat pretty well and have a fairly low fat diet but I'm going to try and skim a little more fat out of my diet. I'm changing from red to white meat as it can be digested easier by our systems. My last steak for a while is coming tomorrow - yummy yum yum - I do love a piece of steak...

My exercise regime is about to get more intense and hopefully I'll lose a bit more weight that way. Over the summer I did my 3rd 10km (approx 56 mins) in Gloucester and my 1st 1/2 Marathon in Sturminster Newton - The Sturhalf (2h19m11s). I also to the Scottish Great Swim - i did a 1 mile swim in Loch Lomond in 50m46s (breaststroke) - that was great with amazing scenery about the loch. I do have 2 more 1/2 Marathons coming up and a Marathon on 26/10 in Leicester - the main running event of my year. I had running injuries for most of the spring going into summer so I decided to do all training on a treadmill in the gym. The results have been great, I'm stronger, faster and I'd say slightly fitter with no injury complaints - It really works. since the end of June I have run 261 km's. I should have ran over 500 km's by the time my Marathon comes around.

Well I'll have to get on and read some of your inspiring stories on here as there are tens of pages to get through. :D

Have a great weekend peeps. o/ o/

I've deliberately stopped losing weight - have been in maintenance mode for a while. I think I'm probably the right weight for my build now, just need go work on my fitness. Going by the increased hassle from men I get in the street, I think I probably look fine as I am, so I'm not going to try and lose any more.

I've now been vegetarian for what seems forever - in reality I think probably a month and a half or so. Doesn't mean I'm eating particularly well, just that I've stopped eating meat. I don't think it's made a blind bit of difference to anything really, other than finding out some people are truly obnoxious when they find out you're a veggie. Don't understand the hate.

To anyone still trying to shift the pounds, I really recommend logging your food, drink and exercise burns - weight loss comes down to simple maths.

I'm running another 5k this month, so need to dust off my running shoes and get some practice in! Spent last month effectively doing two jobs - the serious day job and all the theatre malarkey - so haven't had time to run. Unless you include between venues, I definitely got some PBs there. ;)

Have a lovely (and healthy) Sunday everyone!

Been 'missing in action' on this thread for a while, think my weight is the same as the last time I posted, too, I'm a bit scared to go near the scales. Well, still have foot problems but I have hope that I get an operation soon :cross: .

asamaic, I have been reading your journey and it has been truely inspiring.

I have brought more salads and veg into the diet but OH is a BIG meat eater. So, I swing between his yummy high calorie meals Image and my lower but still nice calorie versions.

Anyway, onwards and downwards (meaning the scales) Good luck all

Well done to John Milton, asamaic, stone_monkey and Baty for all doing so well and keeping in the healthy frame of mind.

As for me  :nono: I'm working far too many hours to allow time to eat or exercise hence eating rubbish - basically I come home from work and have a bath and go to bed. Ate whey too much on my recent trip to New York but apart from getting the underground to Brooklyn I did the rest on foot so counterbalanced it all. I'm off work tomorrow and going here http://www.thewoodlandspa.com for a thermal experience (I don't really know which order you are meant to do things in but will have a read before I go) so will have time to think and start scheduling in breaks in my diary so that I can eat and exercise. Having a mud treatment and a hot stone massage - I don't really know what either is supposed to do but both sound nice.

Aww, that's a lovely thing to say, baty. o/ Thank you!

Diane65, a hot stone massage is relaxing. The pressure isn't firm enough to work out any problems (you want a deep tissue massage for that) but it feels nice. Have a lovely time. o/

Thank you. I don't think that I have got any problems as nothing aches or feels tense so didn't know what treatment to have. Does a deep tissue one feel better as I haven't had either done before? It's my younger daughter's 21st tomorrow hence going but depending on how good it is my friend wants us 2 to go for a day before Christmas so may try a different one then.

If you don't have any back problems, go for a nice relaxing massage like a hot stone or aromatherapy one.

A deep tissue massage is designed to really go at any knots - it's a bit like being punched in the back in a good way, if there can be a good way. You end up sore for a few days, then you're in bliss because the pain goes away and most of the knots are all gone. You absolutely shouldn't get one if there's nothing wrong with you, the pressure will be far too firm.

Swedish massage isn't as firm, but again, it's only good if you have particular aches and pains.

Thinking about it, you're on your feet all day rather than hunched over a desk, so you probably have lovely posture and no back problems. Hot stone massage probably is the best one for you.

I'm going to try an Indian head massage next. I've decided to reinvest my promotion payrise into regular massages to make up for the increased stress. o/

Have you had a look at Wahanda.com? There seem to be regular £10 off codes and if you book last minute, you can get some cracking deals. Once you come back from the spa, you're going to want to pamper yourself more often. o/
