I thought I was really going to hate this, but it went off into loopy territory with such aplomb that I really dug it.
More films about children innocently desecrating corpses please.

I saw this last night, Heart warming and funny . The children relationship with their grandfather was touching, and throughout the film I laughed many times. I would definitely recommend this.

Watched this at a packed Cheshire oaks last night.
Excellent comedy for all the family, had all the audience laughing out loud.
The innocence of the children stole the show !!

Watched this last night at Edinburgh Vue. This is one of those films that is hard not to like or smile at while watching. Predictable, cliched story about a dysfunctional family coming together in the highlands over dying grandfathers birthday bash. And yet the actors (especially the children) manage to pull off an enjoyable movie. 7/10.

Wasn't as good as I thought it would be!
BC was absolutely amazing, but the script felt a bit "much" in parts - trying to be a little too sentimental, particularly at the end. Enjoyable, but I wouldn't watch it again.

Re: What We Did On Our Holiday
Seen this twice now, and it was even better the second time around. Coincidentally I holidayed in Gairloch this June, and so can confirm (a) it does look like that and (b) even Jenson Button couldn’t drive there from London in a day.
Once you’re past the recasting, it’s not so much ‘Outnumbered - The Movie’ but more the new ‘Local Hero’. Relentlessly funny, touching, and charming, it’s a wonderful new British comedy.

Re: What We Did On Our Holiday
Just back from Dundee - wasn't a full cinema. Well, my verdict is "okay". BC is good in anything he does and the kids were cute and the scenery was stunning. From the moment you saw the viking longboat being burned on TV at the very beginning and you heard that grandad was going to be 75, you could kind of work out where this was going. How it was achieved, however, I didn't see coming.
My only problem though was that I'm a registrar of births and deaths in real life. As I'm watching the kids send BC off to his fiery end, I'm thinking "You can't do that - he needs to be registered - suppose it'll be a procurator fiscal job then and we'd need a form blah blah to get it done....." My friend told me not to take things quite so literally and to sit back and suspend reality. Probably had a valid point.......!!!!!
