Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Went to see Bugle Boy yesterday with my Sister. I really enjoyed it. I loved the music! There didn't seem to be any problems at all with the Show. Only half the theatre was full.

saw The Crucible on Monday at NT, which was a freaking headtrip of medieval miscreancy.
a little bit long, and pretty dark most of the time, but recommended.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Denise Van Outen can certainly act and sing in this one woman show, Some Girl I Used To Know, now playing at the Arts Theatre, Central London, until 13 September. She has really matured as a singer and actress, as she tells hilarious and heartfelt stories, struggles with her emotions, and belts out some 80s and 90s hits from Kim Wilde, Culture Club, Sonia and Soft Cell in a musical play, which she co-wrote. Denise definitely managed to impress and entertain me tonight. 9/10

Nevilles Island - this was great fun, and packed with tv stars, though Edmundson has aged beyond recognition now.
Great Britain - very much a game of two halves. First half was weak, no real story, and mostly style over substance, people spouting crap and pretending what came out their mouths was important. I swear there were plants in the crowd pa*d to laugh during this half. Second half picks up with an engagingly satirical storyline, enjoyed it. lots of audiovisual effects on big screens.

On GB not sure there were plants in the audience; I had a good laugh. But it was forgettable and the script was second rate. It felt like it was hastily put together in order to be topical. A more definitive satirical play on this subject is still awaiting us. It's a shame as Lucy Punch deserves to be better known.raj101 wrote:Nevilles Island - this was great fun, and packed with tv stars, though Edmundson has aged beyond recognition now.

It was good to see Simon Lipkin trying his hand at Shakespeare the other night. There was only minor chances for him to sing, but he seized every opportunity for comic potential from the role of Touchstone (and Audrey), stealing pretty much every scene that he was in. Some trademark inclusions as well such as a glove puppet and breaking the fourth wall.
Btw is it me or did someone post a code recently for someone that had been dead for over fifty years?

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Went to the matinee of Made in Dagenham yesterday, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, so surprised at some of the poor reviews.
Gemma stood by our row in the second act, which was lovely to see her so close again after meeting her at the Walking on Sunshine premiere (sorry to add that in!
). She was great and so was the rest of the cast, and that "dolly bird" what a voice, she can certainly belt it out. They received a standing ovation at the end.
I actually had a tear when her husband sang his solo, and when she said she had lost her children.
I would love to see it again, as I missed some of the lines as people round me were laughing so loud!
Lovely to see and catch up with ejwrank and jeanelle in the interval too.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I too thought this was a fabulous musical!! The Prime Minister was getting a lot of laughs! I would recommend this to anyone. A lot of swearing though, if that would offend.
