I am trying to think of positives to say about this but struggling...
It was not awful but the whole film hinges on the relationship and chemistry between the two leads and I just did not feel it. Most of the attempts at comedy seemed flat and a lot of the characters got sidelined or were one dimensional. Lily Collins does not make a believable 30 year old at all. 5/10.
On another note, at the premiere Suki Waterhouse was signing autographs and someone presented her with Where Rainbows End, to which she replied "you've got the wrong book."

I concur! Lily Collins was using the Keira knightley school of Acting, Sam Clafin was just relying on dimples and sub standardd Hugh Grant inpersonation. I prefered the other man and the best friend tbh. Save your money and stick on Love Actually.
4/10 Points docked for making people hang around from 4.30pm till the film actually started at 7.15pm

preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

This is most definitely Four Weddings and a Funeral for 2014. Not that that is a bad thing in any way. Nice British quirky kooky fluff!
An easy watch so 7/10 from me.

Why were they pretending this was England when as far as I could make out it was Ireland? The novel was Irish snd the going to Boston etc makes more sense, to me at least, if the cast are Irish or its at least set in Ireland? I'm guessing they couldn't do the accents so gave up and made it set nowhere instead?
I didn't mind this at all other than above.
It was light fluff and Sam Clafin especially at the end was doing his best Hugh Grant impersonation. Lily Collins was a bit wooden and about the same age as her 12 year old daughter at the end.
The one playing the alleged Vogue model was a real miscast in my mind. She was far too normal and average looking!
A fine girly night in film though. No brain power required.

Back from Glasgow. I actually read this book "Where Rainbow Ends" when it first came out in 2004 but don't remember too much of the details except it is written in epistolary structure in the form of letters, emails, instant messages, and newspaper articles so not like normal novels. The jus of it - the two best friends growing up, missed opportunities and him going to the states whilst she stayed in Ireland I remember.
As a film I'm not convinced they cast correctly as Lily Collin doesn't look old enough whilst Sam Clafin was much better in The Hunger Games. The story was fine though but I think Best Of Me is better. 6/10

Saw this in a busy Braehead. Pleasant enough film though the passage of time is not greatly marked with the ageing of the main characters. Rosie seemed to have every possible misfortune in her relationships . . .though nice to see her parents were not caricatures of Catholic parents
they didn't throw her out when she got pregnant or insist that she give the baby up for adoption
They were probably the most real people in the film!
Most characters had no depth and to be honest I didn't really care about their fates.
I'm glad it was free but may have used a voucher to see.
Mark 6.5/10

Saw this last night in Wimbledon. I enjoyed this for what it was – a pleasant British light comedy. Lily Collins (and her eyebrows) was very sweet as the unlucky-in-love Rosie and Sam Claflin was very Hugh-Grant-ish as Alex (I kept wondering where I had seen him before – IMDB revealed that he was in “The Pillars of the Earth” – the one who had his ear cut off!). The plot was very similar to (in fact, I thought better than) “What if” with another similarity that a lot of it was filmed in Toronto. The soundtrack was brilliant and brought back a lot of memories. The major problem is that over a period of twelve years, neither of the leads aged at all – in fact near the end when Rosie was talking to her daughter, they both looked the same age. I would love to know what their anti-ageing secrets were. Jaime Winstone was great as Ruby, but maybe it was just that her character was quirkier and her part was better written than Rosie’s! Not a major blockbuster, but one to watch on DVD. 7/10

This was better than I expected it to be, granted it's nothing special but was much easier to get through than the 'The Best Of Me'.
Admittedly it could have done with being a bit tighter time wise but for the most part it didn't drag so overall it did just enough to get a 7/10 from me...
