still alive then he should be able to stay alive by growing the same food, presumably even better as he's alone and there's no dust. He mentioned taking two long sleeps so doesn't even need to hang around to watch it grow.

SpoilerShowWeren't they supposed to have only 2 years of supply?
The guy who stayed in the station when they went exploring the planet with tidal waves spent most of his 23 years awake! How did that work???
So yeah, good plot hole catch, Celini :)SpoilerShowI thought perhaps he could have put him self in hybernation and be awoken when the ship is detected to leave the planet but then he wouldnt look so aged so cant be that.

He said he had "a couple of long sleeps" so I assume that means he went into those machines for extended stretches of time.

Oh did he say that? That explains it. I did initially think he would go into hybernation but then he looks like he aged 20 years, I thought their hibernation process prevents the body aging but anyway lets fill that plot hole and assume the body ages in hibernation then :)

he was worried about them and thought they weren't coming back. So he still spent quite a bit of time outside of hibernation which accounted for him ageing.

Yeah but as Celini pointed out, they only had two year food supply and two years doesnt really age you as drastically as the poor guy on the ship. So we may still have to assume one ages physically while in hibernation. Unless with the time he had to spare invented a food replicator or something!

Ha, indeed. Which means we go back to square one with Celini's plot hole...but lets see if we can fill it...how about this: Hibernation can have side effect to some individuals...one symptom being, you look a older when you wake up! So Couper's colleague is allergic to hybernating.
