saw this in the showcase x-plus screen at a costly £11.50 it was enjoyable but very long - 3 Hours although I preferred gravity over this film.
I think the space mission scenes could have been executed better - seemed like some of the time they were taking lucky guesses as what to do next (should they not have rehearsed what to do before they left if things went wrong or which planet to visit if they ran out of fuel?) - I would give it 6/10. It became very weird at the end.

I went to see the film again, last night and pa*d special attention to the ending act.

Couper and Tars have been always assuming that aliens in the fifth dimension created the enclosure for Couper to send messages to Murph (the real chosen one). However, Couper has a last minute conjecture that humankind from the future are the ones helping them to survive.

Now with Nolan's Inception, he leaves us to speculate the reality status of the ending. He is pretty much doing the same thing here where both ideas can be true. Just because Couper thinks one thing doesnt mean that's the way it is.

I personally will disagree with Couper because when if what he says is true, then we have a time travel loop. I HATE time travel loops because they are simply nonsensical. Why? Because a time travel loop entails an effect preceding an action which is absolute nonsense, even though its so neat and hugely entertaining as a narrative in movies/novels that use time travel loop.

I much prefer the speculation that it is fifth dimensional beings wanting to help humanity survive.

the concept of time doesn't exist in higher dimensions. If you look at it from earth it might seem like a paradox but from the 'regular' dimension it might be viewed as a completely trivial action that is necessary for survival. Maybe it's what birth looks like in the fifth dimension. The real question is whether humans are resposible for their own creation, that makes sense to me (in the movie) as it's almost like sentimentality is the second constant, after gravity.

Finally saw this tonight using a voucher. I really enjoyed the film and was glued to the screen barely able to blink or breathe at some points. I was totally captivated though space films would not usually appeal to me. Having said that, it was definitely too long by at least 30 minutes. I know there are scientific flaws in the film but I loved it just the same . . .unlike some of my fellow Glasgow fmukers!
But, that's what makes us all different . . .
If I was giving it a mark it would be 8/10.
