However if it's quiet and burgers you are after you'd all be better off at The Cambridge Bar in Young Street. Best burgers in town no music, no TV! It's a couple of doors down from the Oxford Bar made famous by Ian Rankin in the Rebus novels. It is very central.

Great coffee and cakes at Caffeine a Drip on Queensferry Road. A bit into the New Town cuckoo bakery do huge very tasty tea snd cupcakes.
Two places I really like to try but didn't this weekend. - Cambridge Bar and Caffeine Drop of which is number 2 in tripadvisor just now
Caffeine Drip is a South African cafe. The coffee is amazing and the cakes even more so! Checkout their facebook page yesterday if the citrus and coconut cake!

My post is in no way associated, I'm just a big fan of great cakes at good prices!

Ooh now spoilt for choice for places to eat o/ A nice dilemma to have, the citrus and coconut cake sounds unusual and I'm sure that I would love it. Thanks for all the suggestions and they all sound good.

Thank you for all the suggestions! o/ Please keep them coming. As you are locals, you would know better than us down here. ;)

The Cambridge Bar sounds great, it does gourmet burgers (so be warned that can make it pricey for some people), and chips are extra. Do you know if they do any deals? I hear the food is fab at the Caffeine Drip. However, as it is a cafe and bakery there will not be any alcohol, I don't think? So need to take that into consideration?

In London, we chose a wine bar which had it's own private space and good deals. In Manchester, again we chose a wine bar with private area and good deals.

We need a space for 24 people, that is how many that is confirmed? So over to you, Edinburghers (is there such a word?) ;) Thank you so much for everyone's input.

This is a meet up for everyone so please do say, if there is anything you in particular want?

I hope I am not coming across too bossy! I just like organising, and making sure everything is considered! :P

Well I feel pretty useless as I'm not familiar with any of the suggestions, being an 'after hours' girl lol... I know some pubs and the cinema areas in Edinburgh. The Traverse theatre had been suggested too, I was in there recently for the first time! Don't think they do any deals though.
Preferred cinemas: Any in Edinburgh!

Their take away Pizzas are quite good having had them at some corporate events. I've been in the one in Leith and have not been back. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't so good to make me go back.
If it's Italian you are after then you'd be better off at the Italians in Hanover Street at the top of the New Town where there are umpteen as they tend to do £6 ish for 3 course lunch deals even on a Saturday.
Bar Napoli is probably the cheapest. Food is perfectly acceptable given its as cheap as chips.

I can't really pass comment  I try to stand back but I just can't help myself either. ;)

Thinking out load this is before the meet up we could perhaps start at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calton_Hill to see the famous monuments and for the fantastic views then have a stroll down to see the https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j ... 9334,d.d2s (well the outside of it), then have a free self guided tour of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_P ... t_Building then walk up the Royal Mile towards https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j ... 9334,d.d2s taking in https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j ... 9334,d.d2s just before we reach the stunning castle. Then meander down towards the http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/ ... uction-114 which has the most wonderful paintings. Perhaps after the meet up we could head towards thehttps://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc ... 9334,d.d2s in the New Town which is well worth a trip just to see the New Town itself to walk off our delicious meal before either retiring for the evening or going on a wild night out - I will have to leave the Edinburgh gang to sort that side of things out ;) If we have the meet up in Leith perhaps http://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=L&ai=C5 ... t/tickets/ after the meet up or if we're meeting in Edinburgh itself perhaps those of us who are still there on Sunday morning could have a visit then.

This is just a starter to get the show on the road but feel free to tell me to butt out. There is so much to do in Edinburgh plus the shops are good too. Am I missing anything major here as I have only been to Edinburgh for 2 weekends in my life so please add/subtract from the suggested itinerary or delete altogether. Edinburgh Zoo is supposed to be wonderful - I think that we need to have a week here ;)

You can get day pass for the normal bus services with Lothian Buses. It's about £3 ish for all day after 9.30 I think. I never use the bus, edinburgh us so small you can walk mist places but it's probably too far and too short time for you to walk to Leith and back. http://lothianbuses.com
Not sure if you can use the tram with your ticket as well? The website should tell you. b*y ticket on bus, no change given. Tram tickets you b*y from machine on platform before you get on tram.

If you have time I'd suggest one of the ghost tours in the Old Town or a trip down Mary Kings Close.

One of my friends is a Blue Badge official Scottish Tourist Guide. I'll ask him for a timing on what you are suggesting which should help you decide.
Canongate Kirk. National Museum in Chambers Street. Grey friars Bobby and cemetery. Grass market - Burke and Hare stories! Loads of things to do and see. surgeons Hall.
A walk through the New Town to see the Robert Adam Georgian architecture.
