Having bartered the price down to a tenner for both of us at the Picturehouse Greenwich (Monday tickets are cheaper and we are members now so got additional money off) I whipped out a £10 voucher and got if for free, yippee.

I vividly remember seeing Iron Man two years ago on the huge screen at Odeon Leicester Square with hundreds of others. The atmosphere was electric, we whooped and clapped and cheered when Tony Stark exclaimed "I am Iron Man!" at the end. What a fabulous film that was.

So I had high hopes for the sequel. And while it is still entertaining and funny, while the special effects are amazing and Robert Downey Jr. can do no wrong, it isn't nearly as good as the original. It somehow felt laboured and took a long time to get going - there was no action sequence until 40 minutes in. But gosh, can Scarlett Johannson kick ass! Got a good laugh out of the audience as she was kicking 10 guys in the time her companion tried to knock one out! The film actually got better as it went on, as the action scenes increased in intensity, although the solution to Tony's toxidity problem seemed rushed, and I didn't actually understand it.

I will give this a solid 8/10, and I have no doubt that there will be an Iron Man 3 - hopefully, like Back to the Future 3, back to its old form.

"I was here first. Get a roof!" :giggle:

I saw this the other day, I really enjoyed it, thought it was much better than the first (although, I only saw the first on DVD, so I'm not sure if I'm biased seeing the second one on the big screen). I think RDJ is a legend, he gets the right mix between serious and comedy, I also loved him in Sherlock Holmes. I think they set it up well for another sequel, only complaint was that I thought they could have used Samuel L Jackson more and I wanted to know how he lost his eye!!
I didn't get the thing with the toxicity either, he seemed to fix it very quickly once he had the triangle thing!
8.5/10.

Saw this today and found it pretty boring and predictable. There were so many logical plots holes it made my head spin, but it all looked really good. RDJ was good, but there really wasn't a whole lot of reason to care about what was happening. I found Sam Rockwell's character to be uneven but he did his best with it. The climax was very anti-climatic. Tooooooo much talking for an action flick. Also, did anyone else notice there were a LOT of ads before it began? There were two different ones for the video game alone!

6.5/10

Saw this yesterday as part of double bill with Robin Hood to make up for my lack of cinema going this year.

Great fun all the way. But a seriously thin thin plot! But what the heck, it made me laugh and go "whoaa cool" plenty of times, and yeah Black Widow (Scarlett O Johnson) did kick some butt with some seriously sexy moves. The chemistry between Tony Stark and Peppepot really sparks and RDJ continues to excel and really owns the role so much that if he was to be replaced, it would be big setback for the franchise. Yes there were Avengers future plotting but not so much that many people are making it out to be! And it was a little funny to see Tony Stark use Captain America's shield as a leveller! There were lots of nods to Marvel comic readers without ignoring the broader audience. Balance was fine methinks. Oh and Mickey Rourke was pretty damn cool as Whiplash.

I stayed for the end credits because I always do for this type of movie. We were literally the only ones that did so but then again there were only about 6 people in the audience, lol. And so sure enough there was an after credit scene...and of course its Avengers related.

I used my kgbdeals voucher yesterday to see this before it expired. I haven't seen the first film of this franchise, so I can't compare both films but I think this one is entertaining. I especially liked Mickey Rourke's character.

When the first Iron man came out I was not that excited but then I saw the movie and it was a great thrill ride and I loved it,and I enjoyed the end credit scene leading up to the avengers. Now comes Iron man 2 two years later my expectations for this film was high and it lived up to them from the opening sequence to the end,one scene that I thought was great and emotional at the same was the party scene when Tony get's drunk and starts to terrorize his guest's I hated seeing Tony like although I must admit when Rhodes come's to fight him that's where things go from serious to funny, with a nice little mix from DJ Am,whose appearance was welcomed.Iron man 2 is not your typical superhero film instead it does something different. When we finally see War machine in all his glory he's bad ass,Ivan Vanko is an awesome villain his presence was great, the acting in the movie was top notch, and Robert does another great job.Jon Faveru does a great job at directing and I hope he returns for another one,and stay after the credits,I'm giving this movie a 10/10 it's a perfect way to kick off the summer.
