I was really looking forward to seeing this, so was very disappointed by what I felt was a weak story for both respected actors Alfred Molina and John Lithgow. Although their relationship was rather quaint, I think I'd agree with Stuartboy's assessment. ...it was definitely one to miss as far as I'm concerned. 2/10

Saw this in a packed Wimbledon. A quiet, understated, beautifully acted film about two men in a long term relationship coming to term with blatant discrimination after they had decided to legally cement their relationship by getting married. Alfred Molina played George, the shy, insecure music teacher and John Lithgow played Ben, the flamboyant artist. Once George and Ben had legalised their 40-year relationship, the church school where George worked lost no time in sacking him. Marisa Tomei was, as always, excellent as Kate (Ben’s nephew’s wife) who ended up with Ben as her lodger when Ben & George lost their flat. It was a very touching film, not a lot of action, not a lot of plot, it was basically a vignette showing a small part of their lives together. 7/10

This is one of those films where nothing much really happens, then when something significant did happen it was just glossed over. I loved the soundtrack but thought the film was actually just very boring. 1/10

I really liked the film and thought Alfred Molina and John Lithgow were excellent. I liked the slow pace and found it very sensitive and with a real charm. What a relief from some of the other in your face films I've put up with recently.
