The Water Diviner
Saw this in Edinburgh Wester Hailes this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Russell Crowe is excellent in the role of the bereaved father who heads to Turkey to find the remains of his 3 presumed dead sons who perished at Galipoli. The story follows his struggle and the need to work with a Turkish officer who may well have been involved in the battle that claimed his sons but who also can help with his search.
Although the film was 2 hours long it did not drag and having had little knowledge of the Galipoli war (I have to admit, never realised it took place in Turkey) it gave a good insight into the awful war and losses incurred.
Would highly recommend 9/10.

I too enjoyed it but although he was a water diviner couldn't quite understand how he could use this skill to find the bodies of his sons in among so many other bodies. Fatherly instincts must have been very strong. 8/10

Re: The Water Diviner
I was absolutely amazed to see not only someone using a phone during this, but actually taking the phone out, scroll through their directory....then actually make a phone call! In the middle of a bloody film! I mean texting is one thing. Even answering a call.....but making a call!
It was so distracting that I have no idea what happened to the wife in the film.

I'm stunned that you didn't tell this ignorant person where to stick their silly phone!stuartboy wrote:I was absolutely amazed to see not only someone using a phone during this, but actually taking the phone out, scroll through their directory....then actually make a phone call! Don't you wish Russell Crowe was attending the screen, he would have sorted them outMcG wrote:Why did no one stop them from doing it?stuartboy wrote:I was absolutely amazed to see not only someone using a phone during this, but actually taking the phone out, scroll through their directory....then actually make a phone call! It was probably the same odds as finding Richard III under the cark park under the letter 'R'biggins wrote:I too enjoyed it but although he was a water diviner couldn't quite understand how he could use this skill to find the bodies of his sons in among so many other bodies. Re: The Water Diviner
She was sitting behind me. I turned round and told her to stop it. She ignored me. I stomped up and walked to the side off to report her. She put the phone away. I suspect I disturbed more people by doing that than she was disturbing but it was ridiculous.McG wrote:Why did no one stop them from doing it?stuartboy wrote:I was absolutely amazed to see not only someone using a phone during this, but actually taking the phone out, scroll through their directory....then actually make a phone call! Saw it in Kingston where it started 15 minutes late. I enjoyed it, Russell Crowe is always pleasant to watch.
