Wild Card

#1 Post by nosila50 » Sun Mar 22, 2015 8:21 pm

After a mix up at the Dunfermline Odeon when we arrived for the 7.10 performance to be told that there was no 7.10 performance we were given free tickets to any film of our choice. We settled for Insurgent then managed to get into the 9.30 performance of Wild card.

This is another tongue in cheek Jason Stratham film but if you are happy for a lot of fight action and the bonus of easy on the eye Stratham then this ones for you.

We found it to be an enjoyable caper and the fight scenes are slick and plentiful. Story a bit limp and as this was the first performance as well as it being a Saturday night I would have expected the cinema to be quite busy but only about a dozen of us in all. 6/10

I thought this was incredibly lame. I couldn't even manage to give a summary of this film if my life depended on it. Still have no idea what happened.

Saw this at the Odeon Marble Arch, it is a really bad local cinema, for a Central London local cinema, it is worst than the one in Tottenham Court Road, and just feels like a dump. The seats are really uncomfortable too.

I was looking forward to seeing Jason Statham, only because I have met him in real life, and he was so nice, but not so much the film, and it proved me right, it is quite slow and boring, about a compulsive gambler cum bodyguard. Shame with so many stars, Stanley Tucci, Anne Heche, Jason Alexander. The fight scenes were like in comics though, and Statham showing his martial arts skills, although his acting skills were a bit lacking especially when his character has a brainwave moment, it's like he was going to pass out or had been drugged, but it turns out he was only having a lightbulb moment! Confusing! :P 5/10

Good to see missgotty and vealster there, as always nice to see a familiar face o/

This has got to be one of the worst films this year this and Jupiter Ascending very poor took too long to get into the story and very dull. 2/10

Saw this at empire leic sq and was surprised it came out on the same day as "the gunman" but yeah the plot is hilarious.

Ex sas/army man turned broke PI with a heart of gold who helps out ex girlfriends turned hooker I mean escorts.

The slow mo action was spot on and it basically did the job but can totally see this losing money as the marketing was missed as well as other targets :p

But yeah, violent and funny (intentionally and unintentionally)

whilst not the worse movie of the year, its not far off. At least it has a social health message though, rather than just another good guy bad guy statham bill. Though hilariously the social message is a flawed "if you beat up some gangsters you might cure your gambling addiction".

omg stahs acting ability, so bad its actually one of the draws of watching besides the fighting. not sure where his career goes once the action films, I mean...sequences, dry up.

Anyways, this suspiciously felt like a part of the film has yet to made, or was just given up on and the movie released incomplete.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Slow, boring and the storyline just didn't make any sense. The only saving grace was the few good action scenes.

2/10
