Brutal and gritty. Definitely NOT gentle.
Another of these films that draw you in, immerse you, then leave you hollow and empty when you come out. I'm only now coming back to the reality that I've not just been witness to such carnage for real.

Well worth a watch. What a bleak environment. Not easy on the eye.
Well impressed with Douglas Henshall's non-Scottish accent. Pity he played such as drip as the sheriff.

Edinburgh was very busy.

I hadn't read any reviews so had no idea what to expect. A Danish Western wasn't up there on my lust of must sees, but after seeing it, I was seriously impressed. Excellent cast. A few different twists on the traditional Western, but as Sb says, up was pretty brutal and certainly not a cheery film. I guess the typical twist of Danish noir genre came shining through.
I was impressed.

[The Sparrow]

Nobody came out of this with any redeeming features, they all had a deep nasty streak but by God, this was a cracking film. So much better than the last offering from The Times. Brutal and shocking at times but I would recommend this to anyone who likes a proper film.

A Danish western with a twist and starring Eric Cantona. Well worth watching. I wondered though how Madelaine - who had no tongue - managed to spit in the face of Delarue. Surely she would need a tongue to project spit otherwise it would just dribble down her chin!!

It didn't feel particularly new, but it was gripping throughout and very well played by all involved.

Maybe I'd have been more gripped if the cinema hadn't left a big light on illuminating most of the back row for the whole film - they only have a couple of jobs, play the film in focus, turn lights down, etc and the number of times they don't is staggering.

She did have a tongue, silly. I saw it. The Indians hadn't really chopped it off. It was just pretend.

If you've ever seen The Dreamers you'll know she definitely has a tongue... but that's a very different film. This was very impressive and notable to me was that most if not all the actors were European (I include the Brits, fir a few more years anyway.)

I never understand how people sit through a film with the cleaning lights on. I always run out and tell someone the few times it has happened to me.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. To me it was an updated version of a traditional western, the type of which we used to be able to watch on Saturday night. Yes there was violence, but you knew when it was going to happen, giving people like me and Teddybear1 time to avert our eyes! I've see much worse violence in other films. Amazingly, not a single swear word or nudity and the film, I wish more films would follow that example. My 85 year old Daddy really enjoyed this too.
Extremely well acted. 8/10
